Those iconic words were spoken now more than 50 years ago, but they're just as powerful.
The "Space Race" of the 50's to the 70's spurned a generation, nations and thousands of engineers, technicians and scientists to accomplish one unified vision.
The desire to go to the stars was longed for many decades before we actually went there. Jules Verne penned some memorable stories and with a strong scientific interest, filled them with foundational ideas for rockets, lunar modules, lasers and many more.
We continue to see this influence on the stories we love across many genres, demographics and mediums. Star Trek in the TV world, Halo from the video game world, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? in the book world. (For all you millennials out there, that's the books' title Blade Runner is based on).
I've fallen victim to this myself.
