Dear ,

Happy May Day! I trust you had a wonderful April. My April has been busy creating new website and social media content, which will soon be revealed. Last email I asked you to vote on content you’d like to see, but there were equal votes for worldbuilding, craft and characters, so I’ll be doing more soon.

My newest blog post is craft-focused on editing with AI. In particular, AutoCrit’s fiction analyser. If you’re interested in writing tools, this provides some snippets produced by the AI on ‘The Duty of Magic’ and my works in progress. Until recently, AutoCrit’s capabilities included highlighting overused words, adverbs and passive language etc. Now AutoCrit has added a new feature that can give developmental feedback on aspects such as character motivations and plot continuity, which will no doubt be useful moving forwards.

Following on from previous character descriptions, it’s time to introduce a villain - Kavir, the Royal Mage of North Parsa.

imageAs Royal Mage, Kavir is responsible for leading the mages and safeguarding the magical heritage of the realm. For some, this is more important than true royalty, but officially, the role is equal to the king. With little patience, Kavir maintains order through fear as much as with skill, imposing his own ideals on the kingdom. Despite his questionable methods, none can doubt his mastery of magic. His unrivalled ability to teleport vast distances permits him to keep an eye on the troublesome southern kingdom, giving him a unique political advantage. With his strong desire for control, Kavir is a type 8 on the Enneagram, and after losing his sister, there are few others he can depend on.
