And by cowbell, I mean humor and fun. This year has been an absolute grind and everyone is busy beyond belief which will equal a lot of stress. Time to de-stress!

So this week's TLX is going to be a quick hit on the humor of our industry sharing some content that only industry pros will appreciate. One thing you will find with TLX is that I like to change things up a bit to keep things fresh and interesting because this is the Un-Newsletter! And if you do not understand the cowbell reference stop what you are doing and watch this right now!

Also, I have decided to make a big change so make sure to tune into next Saturday's issue for my Big Announcement. Enjoy this week's edition!

But first, here is a live look at a Loan Officer arguing with an Underwriter over email...

Say Yes Every Day

This week say yes to holding yourself accountable!  Every day we change and with that change we have to decide if it’s going to be a positive or negative step forward so this week hold yourself accountable to grow and lean into the person you want to be in the world. !  - Laura Brandao

MBS X

Presented By: MBS Highway

Your time is now!

Don’t find yourself saying “I wish we had low interest rates.”  You have the lowest rates ever right now.  This isn’t the time to take a vacation just because you reached your 2020 goal.  Now is the time to work harder and take advantage of the market we have.  Did you know that nearly 20 million people can benefit from a refinance according to Black Knight?  Double your 2020 goal by showing your customers how they can save money by refinancing.

Say you’re saving your customer $322/month.  Many would say that it would take 10 months to breakeven from $3,200 in closing costs.  This is not correct because the $322 savings includes principal which is not a cost!  Notice that they’re saving $439 in interest each month, making the breakeven point 8 months rather than 10.

This is something that your competition is not explaining correctly and will help you win every deal by providing value and being an Advisor rather than just a salesperson.

Mauldin on the Frontline

The News X Recap!

This week saw the Rocket IPO and investors reacted after missing their IPO target, but lifted off in the 2nd day of trading.

While it’s impossible to know with certainty how Rocket’s stock will perform in either the short- or long-term, IPOs like Rocket can be a tricky play by investors

Speaking of Rockets, the Crew of the SpaceX Dragon safely returned to Earth after their two month trek into outer space.

Speaking of things happening on this planet, you can’t throw a mask without hitting an article about mortgage rates being low. However, actually finding an affordable home seems to be the challenge

For those that are in homes already, a new trend has begun to develop, which indicates that some homeowners are facing more financial pressure as the coronavirus pandemic continues.

Another trend I am seeing chatter about is the increased scrutiny that Self-Employed borrowers are facing when it comes to getting a mortgage.

And last and definitely least..(I couldn’t help myself), Ellie Mae has been acquired...again, but this time there is hope that this will lead to TRUE innovation as opposed to more of the same.

The Vieaux

During this seemingly never-ending quarantine I have made a point to pay more attention to the marketing content that comes my way. In my role at FinLocker I am responsible for our revenue producing activity including business development, sales, and marketing. By paying attention to what grabs my attention as a consumer, I am honing our marketing message and tactics to improve our results. There are some themes that I have found myself reacting positively to. Compelling personal stories are most interesting to me and likely to get me to respond or check out a demo.

Like many I am challenged with a short attention span. Given a choice of reading a block of text or an infographic I will always lean to the graphic. If you can show me instead of telling me, you are on the path to success.  Great content may go unread if you cannot get the reader to open your email or scroll down to your message.Headlines and Subject lines matter. I will take a chance on content if the headline grabs me. Too often people try to explain too much in the headline or subject line- The goal is here to get the reader’s attention, if for only 5 seconds.Do not be boring!!! Take chances!!!  - Brian Vieaux

I wanted to highlight my friend Michelle Bellisari’s blog article this week about Downsizing. This is the perfect example of industry related content that is focused on the interests of consumers along with adding education and value. Well done!
