Two Monthly Meal Plans
Last time I told you about three festive meal plans. This time, I'm publicising Cheap Family Recipes meal plans which I've repriced this month.
Each plan lasts 31 days and feeds 2 adults and 2 teenagers.
Meal Plan One is coming in at £1.08 pppd which considering how many years ago it was written is pretty damn amazing. These plans were not constructed by me, but by Weezl and her team of trusty helpers, which included me. I had a hand in many of the recipes. Weezl had children and went on to other things and after a while, I reinstated the site from the wayback graveyard because it's such a valuable resource and so many people love it.
Meal Plan Two is a vegan one with lots of lovely recipes. You don't have to do the whole month of course, you could do a week, or just use the occasional recipe, I do that all the time!
I've updated the weekly fruit allowance to £8 as that provided 28 portions.
Glow Wild
On Friday night, I took my grand daughter to Glow Wild at Wakehurst Place. We had such a great time! The light installations are truly impressive, and I simply love the ambient music that is gently played as you go around.
We carried a little lantern on a pole to help us see where we were going and oohed and aahed at frequent intervals.
There were bird models in trees, hundred and hundreds of flickering real fires, a river of light, tunnels of light and sound, installations and lots and lots of other things.
Then at the end we toasted marshmallows over a fire pit and munched on pulled pork burgers.
Good times, looking forward to next year now and planning what the Christmas treat outing will be!
Daily Mail
I'm off to London on Tuesday to do a photoshoot with the Daily Mail. They wanted Christmas Lunch for 6 for £25. Not only is there a photographer, a hair and make up artist, but a food stylist as well this time. Haven't worked with one of those before! I shall be watching carefully and trying to pick up lots of tips!
I started off using an Aldi turkey joint for £5.29, but having chased round East Sussex trying to track some down, I decided that it was no good at all me saying that you can do lunch for £25 if you can't actually find the ingredients! So I've changed it to an Asda one. The editor don't want just one supermarket as she said it was too much like an ad, so I've had to split the shopping between 3 of them.
I don't know at this point when it will be published, but it's got to be soon hasn't it!
An e-book or two
I published an ebook for meal plan 1 in August 2021 and am delighted that many people have thought it was worth getting. I repriced it again in June 2022 and it was still holding on, even in these scary times. Now we are in September and prices have shifted again and
I've managed to get my head around WooCommerce so I can feature it on the blog and you can find it here.
I was busy recooking, photographing and updating the recipes for Meal Plan 2 and putting them into an ebook as well. The meal plan was first written in 2013 and still prices up, which is fabulous and that is finally complete. The book is done now too, prices seem to be stable enough to do it.
I'm well into creating an e-book from the Stretch A Chicken To Last A Week series, hope it won't be long before it's finished
Do come and say hello on the Fantastically Frugal Food Facebook group, or the Sensational Slimming Sustenance group. I'd love to see you. Lots of useful tips, recipes and ideas. The over 17,000 membership are brilliant, brimming with talent.
And don't forget Thrifty Lesley, where there are 800+ recipes of fantastically frugal food and many weekly meal plans. And Cheap Family Recipes where you can find all kinds of delicious things that don't cost much, with two family monthly meal plans.
I've also got a few YouTube videos up, not many yet, but I'm planning to do more. I've done a couple more, need to edit them now. So much to do, so little time!
With all best wishes, until next time
