Where we are this week
I have been taking a flask of hot soup to my daughters for my lunch when I visit. Recently she wanted to try it, so I shared and she ended up having most of it. So next time, I took TWO flasks. She enjoyed that one and had the whole flask during the time I was there, a couple of spoonfuls at a time.
So this has now evolved into me doing a different soup each time I go. It's lovely to see her enjoying a nourishing soup and getting some vegetables down her!
One of the days I have been going is Thursday, but the hospice is running a course on Thursdays for 6 weeks, so those days are out for a little while.
She has a washpod installed upstairs so she can be helped to shower, and a stair lift to get up there, as well as the hospital bed in the sitting room where she spends most of her time.
The latest is a walking frame which will be coming this week as the walking stick is no longer enough, and carers have started to come in twice a day to help her with personal stuff. She was reluctant to have her husband wash her, and I think I would feel much the same way.
This is one of my most treasured pictures of my girls when they were 11 and 9, and how I think of them in my head, no matter how old they get! This is the only copy I have, and I'd really like to get the colour improved.
Tracey has wanted to go and see a ballet with her mum (me) for some time, so months ago, I got tickets to a live transmission in her home town of The Nutcracker from the Royal Opera House, in the hope that she would still be well enough to be able to go.
It will be a struggle, but it's looking hopeful that we'll be able to go.
What I've been making in previous Novembers
A Vegetarian Christmas Week Plan
I've just repriced the vegetarian weekly Christmas meal plan. It's increased £4.58 over the week since last year, which is the circumstances isn't too bad. And of course, if you utilise all the extremely reduced vegetables around at the end of December, you save even more
A Home Made Hamper
Do you like to make hampers for people for Christmas? If you do here are a few ideas
I published an ebook for meal plan 1 in August 2021 and am delighted that many people have thought it was worth getting. I repriced it again in June 2022 and it was still holding on, even in these scary times. Now we are in September and prices have shifted again and I've managed to get my head around WooCommerce so I can feature it on the blog and you can find it here.
I was busy recooking, photographing and updating the recipes for Meal Plan 2 and putting them into an ebook as well. The meal plan was first written in 2013 and still prices up, which is fabulous and that is finally complete. The book is done now too, prices seem to be stable enough to do it.
I've finally completed the e-book from the Stretch A Chicken To Last A Week series. Took me absolutely ages to finish it off!
Do come and say hello on the Fantastically Frugal Food Facebook group, or the Sensational Slimming Sustenance group. I'd love to see you. Lots of useful tips, recipes and ideas. The over 17,000 membership are brilliant, brimming with talent.
And don't forget Thrifty Lesley, where there are 800+ recipes of fantastically frugal food and many weekly meal plans. And Cheap Family Recipes where you can find all kinds of delicious things that don't cost much, with two family monthly meal plans.
I've also got a few YouTube videos up, not many yet, but I'm planning to do more. I've done a couple more, need to edit them now. So much to do, so little time!
With all best wishes, until next time
