It's been a very long time since I sent an email to Thrifty Lesley readers, life has got in the way! I spend quite a bit of time on the Facebook Group , but the main thief of time was the loft extension. It used extraordinary amounts of my time, especially considering I didn't have a hammer in my hand at any point. I even had to stop going to WI as I simply didn't have enough time
I've also spent a lot of time helping to build the membership of the local U3A group, all in abeyance now of course, for goodness knows how long. I'm quite enjoying the enforced slow down, living a slow life, with few demands on my time, and few places to go or people to see. I live with my husband, so I have company and as we are (theoretically) retired and in receipt of pensions, I don't have to worry about the bills, so I know I'm very fortunate and a great many others don't have that luxury.
I'm enjoying reading a lot, catching up on my extensive list of books I want to read. The garden is being beaten into shape again. It was sadly neglected while we built the kitchen extension and I hadn't fully pulled it back again when we started on the loft extension. Scaffolding everywhere, stuff chucked on the garden, and stored on it too. It's just starting to come to life again and it's good to have the time to spend time out there. I have to do an hour at a time, then stop for a breather, I find it hard work!
I thought it might be good to start sending an email again, so here are a few of the latest posts from Thrifty Lesley. Plus you may like to pop over and see Cheap Family Recipes, such a well loved site, I thought it was too valuable to too many people to let it die. I'm in the process of bringing it back from the depths of Wayback and it's taking a while!

We had a large loft and decided that we'd like to convert it. We wanted a bedroom each end and a bathroom in the middle. Nothing complicated, but my goodness, it took us a long time to get the go-ahead.

These noodles don't take too long and you can really stretch out a few shreds of chicken or keep it vegan

Baguette - crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside, and with a lovely texture that's chewy and delicious. Would you like a foolproof baguette recipe?

Chocolate scones are a bit different and very delicious. We had one with thick cream and bottled dark cherries. Rock on Black Forest revival!
