What do you want in your career?

Hey ,
I'd really appreciate if you could reply this week with your thoughts. Need help deciding what next week's edition will be about.
This week I'm thinking about:
- The future of this newsletter
- Determining what you want in your career
🔮 The Future of This Newsletter
This week I've been working in the studio with my friend Ryan.
Don't worry, I'm not laying down supporting vocals.
I just get energy being around people creating (more on that later).
I've spent the past two nights reflecting on the mission of the Learn Then Apply (LTA) brand.
I want LTA to be where people go to turn consumption into action and creation.
Practically, that means I'll be:
- compiling & curating useful resources for challenges I'm facing/have faced
- providing context and case studies on how those resources can be used to achieve the desired outcome
- supplementing and filling-in any gaps in information
What I don't know is the direction I want to go with the newsletter. I've gotten feedback from a few readers. Some say they like keeping up with the projects I'm working on (Apply). Some have said they like seeing the links I'm putting out (Learn). Others said it's nice to get some context and a story (Process).
Two ways I've thought about proceeding:
- Linking to the 3-5 best things I've found in the past week.
- Writing about the biggest challenge I'm currently trying to overcome and the resources and tactics I'm attempting.
What do you think? Which option is better?
Do you have a suggestion for another route I could take?
💼 What do you want in your career?
On the Founder's Journal podcast, Alex Lieberman spoke about coming up with non-negotiables for your career.
I want to preface by saying it's a privilege to determine where and how you'd like to work.
Out of college, most people are just looking for any role that will pay them enough to move out of their parents house and have some drinks on the weekend.
No one should be expected to know what they want to do when they graduate (or ever really). The only way to find what you like is to try different things.
So just pick a direction and start walking.
Once you've tried things, then you can reflect on the environments and variables that result in your best work.
I've decided in my career I want:
- To be around creators - people that get excited about ideas and work hard to execute them
- To have autonomy and a voice in the direction of strategy
- To work on projects/causes that I care about (things I'm never ashamed of promoting).
✌ See you next week
Probably with a new format. Please reply and let me know what you think I should do!
Reminder, if I don't send a newsletter by next Wednesday (11/25), venmo request me for $10 @monitormonkey.
Have a great week!
