You can do anything you've heard is possible

Hey,

As we head into the long weekend, I was thinking about my junior-year Excel class.

We learned all about VLOOKUPs and pivot tables and useful keyboard shortcuts.

I occasionally use some things I learned from that class, but I've forgotten the specifics of how to do most things.

But that's okay. At any point, I can just pull up Google and search "How to do conditional formatting in Excel".

If I forgot so much, was that class a waste of time?

Not at all. It showed me what is possible in Excel.

If we didn't explore all the different functions, then I would never even think to use Excel when building tools or doing analysis.

Here's where I'm going with this...

I've spent years following successful internet entrepreneurs like Noah Kagan, Sam Parr, Ramit Sethi, Alex Lieberman, etc.

They seem larger than life and their success feels unattainable when you look at the million-dollar businesses they've built.

But the more I read their tweets and listen to their podcasts and view their interviews, the more I realize they're just regular people.

And I can be just as successful as them if I choose to.

We are only limited by our own beliefs.

It took me a long time to internalize that I could be a millionaire one day.

It would take a ton of work, and I might choose to not make the sacrifices that are required to get there.

But I know it's possible because I've seen it.

Gary Vee has a saying that goes like "if someone that looks like you has made it, you can too."

That's why Obama becoming president was such an important moment. That's why brown people love seeing Hassan and Aziz and Mindy.

And this doesn't just apply to business or financial success.

You can observe someone that is active in Church and loves their job and spends every evening with their family.

You can observe someone that volunteers every weekend and regularly checks up on their friends and regularly makes time to workout.

But you have to FIND those people. It's hard to believe something is possible until we see it regularly.

So be audacious. Imagine your ideal day. Your ideal life.

Then seek out people who are living that life.

The more you see it, the more you'll believe that you can be like that too. And you can do anything you put your mind to :)

Cheers,

Aswin
