Spring Break, writing progress, and a giveaway!

Hi friends!

A very warm welcome to everyone who subscribed to my newsletter through Beyond the Bookery's Spring Fling Giveaway! I hope you enjoy these monthly updates on my writing / personal life, plus plenty of book recommendations :)

April started with spring break for my kiddos. We drove down to St. Louis, which is such a cool city filled with museums, fun parks, and amazing history. We had a lovely time, other than my 5-year-old getting sick and a bit of severe weather. But even with more time at the rental house than planned, we appreciated the opportunity to explore new places together as a family!

In writing news, I'm *finally* diving back into Book 3 of my Tales of the Mystics series! This book has been years in the making, and I'm determined to finish it by the end of 2025. I'm happy to report that the first half is in better shape than I expected! It already has solid pacing, so I mostly need to fill it out a bit and do some editing. The second half has many gaping holes yet, but the deeper I get into the story the more excited I am to give these characters a satisfying happily ever after :)

Some other MAJOR book news is in the works behind the scenes, but I can't share quite yet. Eeeep! I'm so sorry to have to keep things vague for now, but I promise this is an update worth waiting for! Once enough details are in place that I can make an announcement, you'll be the first to know.

In the meantime, how about a giveaway? Ye Olde Dragon Books puts together such fun collections of short stories, centered around either a certain fairy tale or movie monster. And they just opened a giveaway for copies of all FIVE of their fairy tale retelling anthologies! I had a blast writing my Sleeping Beauty reimagining, "A Dozen Failed Rescuers," which is included in Perchance to Dream. The authors for these collections get so creative, and all the stories are clean. Good luck, and happy reading!

This book is right near the top of my TBR, just look at that cover!! But the premise of Healer's Blade also sounds fantastic - historical fantasy with slow-burn romance? Sign me up!

A healer on the run. A rebel knight after her heart. Will she betray him to save the England she loves?

Speaking of books on my TBR, I've had my eye on Toni Cabell's Faeries of Door County series ever since the first book came out. Door County is where my husband and I spent our honeymoon, and it's such a perfect setting for cozy fantasy :) Return to Mooncrest Inn just released in February!

She’s the woman he can’t forget. He’s the man she can’t forgive. When she returns home to help her ailing father, sparks fly... along with tail fins, fur, and fangs.

Fans of enemies-to-romance fantasy, have you heard of Bounty Hunter by Kaylee Jarvis? I'm so intrigued by the idea of Black Tulips whose magic is needed to restore the kingdom but were driven into hiding. Isn't that cover gorgeous??

A king desperate to save his kingdom… in search of a woman doing everything she can to never be found…

Snag it here!

And for another stunning cover featuring purple flowers...I present Breaking Up with a Fae by Tasha Creed! What happens when a girl spends a fun day with a fae boy and agrees to marry him when he comes back someday to whisk her away? But then he takes so long coming back she decides it must've been a childhood fantasy...until his guards show up at her door to claim the fae prince's future wife. So much fun potential for mixups and romance and cool fantasy elements!
