Mythical creatures and a sneak peek at my new book

Mar 05, 2021 8:16 pm

Hello to all my new people and everyone who sticks around for some Friday fun. Let's start it off with a free book: today (March 5) is the last day to get Soul Forgotten for free! Snag that guy fast. I'll be celebrating the release of Soul Remembered (book 2 in the series) later this month!

New on the blog

This might be my favorite post to date... and you know I love me some superpowers. I go in depth with some mythical creatures featured in my books AND you can get some behind the scenes excerpts from those stories.

Cut from The Rise of the Coilleach

TRC is coming out MARCH 9! I'm really excited for this one - book 8 in the series and my 20th published title! What better way to celebrate than giving you a little look.

Her attention snapped up. Just underneath the cracking of the fire and the roll of waves and wind, she could hear something approaching from behind her. It was subtle and well-disguised, like a hunter drawing closer to prey.

Only this time their prey was a well-trained warrior.

Kahyr carefully tightened her grip, gritting her teeth against the pain as her muscles cried out. It felt like she had gripped a blade without protection, piercing her skin with fire that didn’t relieve the numbness.

Maybe being trained wouldn’t matter if she couldn’t get her body to fight back in the cold.

Kahyr held her breath, focusing on the sounds that were just quiet enough to keep her guessing. There wasn’t just one animal approaching, there were many. Too many to count. They moved almost like they were a single unit, spread evenly from every direction behind her. They were skilled; much too skilled to be the men from the boat, which could only mean one thing.

Animals on the hunt, and they had their eyes on a weak and exposed target.

Don't forget to grab that preorder for The Rise of the Coilleach! You can learn more from the Warrior Series detail page! Comes complete with previews of the remaining two covers for the series and a glossary plus character features!

Buy me a coffee - I'm shutting down Patreon (long story short, the platform is moving in a direction that I cannot support any longer). If you feel so inclined, consider fueling some of these between-writing endeavors with caffeine.

Question of the Week:

Next week I'm going to share a blog about my vacation! In the meantime, here's a quick list of my books that will be for free later this month:

Self-Publishing Guide (Mar 8-10) | The Masterpiece (Mar 15-17) | Wild Heart (Mar 22-24)

Thanks to everyone who responded to last week's question (favorite National Park to visit). Yosemite was a popular one and it's on my bucket list!

My question to you for this week: Do you listen to podcasts? If so, what do you like?

Bonus: I'm considering creating a podcast where I read my books (it's currently cheaper than producing audiobooks). I'd love to get some feedback on this idea since I've seen a few other authors use this platform with success (and failure). As readers, is this something you'd like? What sort of format would make it something you'd consider supporting monetarily (I'm thinking donation-style like Buy Me a Coffee or something similar)?

I love hearing from you guys and I respond to every email I get. If you're a little shy, fill out the 'ask me anything' form instead!

Some readers have had trouble responding to this email (it is sent by my mailing server) so if your reply has been sent back, make sure you're sending the email to author.laurawinter@gmail.com

Sending you love, kindness, and peace for wherever you are right now.
