WIP
The Expanse to Donoma (Warrior #9) is coming at you TUESDAY, April 6! I thought I'd drop a little snippet from one of my favorite scenes in this book - don't worry, there aren't spoilers!
He smiled and lifted his palm, resting it on the wolf’s nose. She responded with a sigh, pushing gently against his hand and nudging it farther up her muzzle. Rhish’s fingers sank into the black fur, warmth wrapping around his hand and sending courage through his muscles. He stepped closer, mimicking the same movements Kahyr had made with her Fridolf as he buried himself in black fur. He almost didn’t need his pelt to be warm when he was this close to the creature. She wiggled against him, encouraging more scratches as he ran his palm against her chest.
“I will call you Nevus, for snow,” Kahyr said to her wolf, shifting to scratch behind his ears as he lowered to the ground. It might have been a distraction to keep the Fridolf’s attention away from Ouba who was pouncing back and forth behind Nevus, chasing the wolf’s tail as it wagged. Kahyr looked over her shoulder at Rhish. “What will you call your shadow?”
He shifted to the front of his Fridolf, scratching the crescent moon patch of fur between her eyes. “I think she is Dela, for night.”
