The writer and her music playlist

Jan 15, 2021 8:01 pm

Once upon a time, I listened to music while I wrote. In fact, I had entire playlists dedicated to the different types of scenes I was writing. For those of you who have read Soul Forgotten, you automatically know what music I was listening to while writing... because I included it in the book.

Yeah, my book incorporated a playlist. It was really fun. Less fun when I wanted to reuse songs in my later books, but I found some alternatives. My Soul trilogy is full of music I listened to while writing.

With my Warrior Series, things are a little different. It's not set in the Earth-world, so I needed something a little different. I'm fine with nature sounds or study music, but I needed that fantasy feel.

Enter the Chronicles of Narnia soundtracks... specifically the Prince Caspian soundtrack. Talk about epic, hopeful, inspiring, dramatic... basically every emotion I need to include in the series I am writing. So, if you're curious about the flow and emotion of the Warrior Series, look no further.

Review Copies:

I'm really working hard to get this Warrior Series off the ground. It's possibly my favorite world to live in (hard to admit when Finnley is my baby), so I'm going to ask you - my super awesome tribe - for some help!

I would LOVE to get some more reviews up for The Stolen Lives. Right now, I have a few 5 star ratings but no text reviews. So, I'm hoping you guys can help me out a little bit.

I'm sharing a REVIEW COPY of The Stolen Lives with you guys. It's FREE to read, and in exchange I'm hoping you can leave an honest review on Amazon. If you're interested in leaving a review but aren't sure what to leave in the text area, here are some ideas!

  • storytelling ability
  • your impression of the world, worldbuilding
  • who your favorite character was and why
  • how the mystery and magic impacted your emotions while reading

So click the link above and get the book for free!

Street Team:

I'm looking to build a street team in the new year - a group of volunteers who would be willing to share some graphics on their social media, participate in some fun conversations, and spread the word about my books... but of course, we need an awesome name before we get going. You can fill out this form to vote on a name AND if you're interested in joining the street team early, you can join the private Facebook group!

Outro:

Lately I've been treating my Passion Planner like a creative hobby. Instead of getting caught up in the tasks and time blocking, I'm focused on making it a creative release. I even picked up the watercolor pens I hadn't used for two years and started doodling.

Let me clarify that I am absolutely garbage at art, my strength is via writing, but the hobby has really given me some meditative release. It's a lot of fun, I'm color coding a lot more (which is great for stress relief), and I'm still getting just as much done as before.

Respond and let me know what your creative hobby is! I love hearing from you. If you're a little shy, fill out the 'ask me anything' form instead!

Sending you love, kindness, and peace for wherever you are right now.
