flip flop! Yes, I totally told you last week I was getting back into superpowers. It was not a lie, because I did... and then that TCOBS prequel was nagging at me night and day and it would not shut up... so I listened. I'm just going to let the words flow where they need to, but for this week, I've let my heart take over!

WIP: TCOBS Prequel
So, I'm not ready to share my prequel title just yet, but I wanted to give you some details of what this epic fantasy prequel to The Curse of Broken Shadows will look like.
First off, it's not exactly a book. What does that mean? Well, the prequel will be a collection of short-medium length stories following Brela's early years. They aren't full plot arcs, but rather snapshots of her life. I'll tell you early on that you'll be getting the story of how she escaped Valisea, a bit of training as an assassin (maybe we'll learn how she broke the arm off a solid stone statue of the earth god), and how she met Farrah and Elias.
The special big story I'll announce on a different day ;)
So, now that I've kept you waiting, here's a little snippet from one of those stories.
Brela barely spun in time to block Ovir’s blade. Punch, kick, swerve. His black hair sprayed sweat with each twist they made. He barely seemed to notice the slices she made on his chest and arms, still attacking with the same strength he’d had since the start of the day.
Her white-blonde braid snapped against her skin with every change of direction. She tried not to focus on the burn in her lungs, the ache in her muscles. The cuts he left peppered over her were nothing compared to pain she’d felt before. The pain she’d felt within these walls and across the mountains.
She couldn’t lose focus. Not here. Not now. Not with Ovir who wouldn’t hesitate to follow through on his father’s threat.
