Hello to all my newest readers! Thanks so much for joining. I thought I'd do a bit of a reintroduction to all my newbies and refresh some of you as to what is in store by joining my Fiction Friday newsletter!

- I'm obsessed with superpowers, magic, and badass female characters so you're guaranteed to get at least one of those in every story I write (aka FANTASY)
- In my past life, I was a professional athlete (yes!). I studied IT in college and have both my MSIS and MBA. For a minute I actually used those degrees as a marketing professional but now I write full time

WIP: Prequel TCOBS
Here's a fun little snippet that I've been working on recently for the prequel stories for The Curse of Broken Shadows.
Even as the wind and sand picked up and pressed closer, distracting them from the near invisible paths of crystal points flying at them, a pattern revealed itself to Brela. She grinned, planted her feet, and launched into the whirlwind.
She could have sworn the desert sucked in a breath as she hit something solid.
Brela tumbled with the suddenly formed glass body, fighting the long fingers that tried to dig into her skin and disarm her. The sprite was strong and better prepared for the sand underneath them, but she’d clearly taken it by surprise. With a few moves, she dug her knee into a chest and arm, the point of her dagger at the glass throat.
Black, swirling eyes full of sand widened, but something about the gesture didn’t quite look like fear.
“Axaczi, ov raokir,” the sprite said, his voice running like sandpaper over her ears. He tried and failed to kick her off of him.
“Stop squirming. I’m not here to hurt you,” Brela snapped.
His eyes darted to the dagger at his throat. “Pointy objects under my chin suggest otherwise.”
“You started it.”
A wide grin spread over the glass features of the sand sprite, revealing fangs that she could have sworn elongated as he snapped his teeth at her.

Outro:
Don't forget to come hang out on Discord. Especially if you've been reading TCOBS and have ~questions~ or just want to shout at me for that ending (okay, please don't shout, but I also understand). It's a safe space for spoilers if you need to talk about how much you ship Farrah and Serill or how much you want to hit Cason with a chair.
Some readers have had trouble responding to this email (it is sent by my mailing server) so if your reply has been sent back, make sure you're sending the email to author.laurawinter@gmail.com. I respond to every email I get and I love hearing from you, even if you just want to say hello.
Sending you love, kindness, and peace for wherever you are right now.
