Hellooooo August!

Is anyone else desperate for cooler weather? Ugh, summer is killing me. I would like to go outside without melting into the sidewalk, please.

On the bright side, that heat means I'm staying inside most of the day and getting stuff done! Baby Violet has been much better about not needing contact 24/7 which means I've been able to get more writing done than I expected. I won Camp NaNo last month (goal: 10K, win: 16K) and I've broken 32K out of a goal of 200K for the second book in the Smoke and Shadows series. That title is still a secret, but I can't wait to share it with you guys when the time comes.

Question of the week: What punctuation do you hate with a passion?

My Answer: Exclamation points and parentheses, which is hilarious because I use them all the time in my informal writing. However, it's a big turn off for me when I come across them while reading. I don't mind the exclamation when someone is shouting or excited, but I despise it when it's used outside of dialogue. Same goes with excess parentheses. I've had to DNF books because there were so many used! <-- ;)
