7-Figure Weekly - three beliefs that made me a million

Oct 20, 2024 11:06 pm

Have you ever felt like your mindset was holding you back from achieving your dreams? I've been there too. Looking back on my journey to building a 7-figure business, I realized that it wasn't just about strategy or skills – it was about the core beliefs that shaped my actions and decisions.

Today, I'm sharing three unconventional beliefs that were instrumental in helping me generate a million dollars online. These might challenge your thinking, but that's exactly the point.

7-Figure Lesson: Bold beliefs lead to big results

  • Bold Belief in Success: I believe I can succeed at whatever I put my mind to, even when it seems delusional to others. This mindset has pushed me past limits that once seemed insurmountable. It reminds me of Otto Lilienthal, the pioneering "flying man" who strapped wings to himself because he truly believed he could fly. While his methods weren't perfect, his unwavering determination paved the way for the Wright brothers and modern aviation.

My own journey wasn't a straight path either. From folding clothes in retail to flipping burgers after college, I took plenty of detours. But it was embracing the idea that failure isn't a setback, but a lesson, that ultimately shifted my trajectory. Every "no" became a "not yet," every stumble a stepping stone. This belief turned dead-end jobs and financial missteps into valuable learning experiences, each one bringing me closer to the success I envisioned.

  • Bold Belief in Being Above Average: I hold the belief that I'm better than most people at most things. Now, before you roll your eyes, hear me out – it's not about arrogance, but about the willingness to act and challenge myself. In high school, I took a calculus class I didn't need for graduation. I didn't have to, but I believed I could do more than the average person. That class humbled me with one of my first failing grades, but it reinforced my first belief: if I set my mind to something, I can achieve it.

This belief extends beyond academics. It's about setting effort-based goals rather than outcome-based ones. By focusing on actions – like the consistent steps I take for my business – I'm able to achieve above-average results. The key is to direct this belief inward, not outward. I'm not in competition with anyone but myself. The only person I need to beat is who I was yesterday, and that's how I ensure I keep moving forward, without falling into the trap of unhealthy comparison.

  • Bold Belief that Money Isn't Real: Understanding that money is just digits on a screen freed me from putting it on a pedestal and allowed me to focus on what truly matters: value. I used to see money as something that had control over me, a sentiment deeply ingrained from years of watching my parents struggle. But one day, I had an epiphany – money is just an agreement, a tool for exchanging value.

This shift dramatically changed my approach to business, especially on sales calls. I vividly remember those early days when I was desperate to land clients, hoping they'd say yes because I needed the money. But that energy was all wrong. Once I saw money as a mere reflection of the value I provide, I shifted my focus. Instead of worrying about whether the client would pay, I concentrated on whether they were the right fit and if I could provide real value to them. This change in perspective removed the desperation from my sales conversations and opened the door to greater financial success. The moment I stopped chasing money, it started to flow into my life abundantly.

Take Action:

  • Identify a goal that seems "delusional" and take one concrete step towards it today. What's the smallest action you can take right now?
  • Set an effort-based goal for the next week. Instead of "I want to make X dollars," try "I will reach out to 20 potential clients." Focus on what you can control.
  • In your next business interaction, prioritize providing value over securing money. How does this shift your approach and energy?

Final Thoughts:

These beliefs might seem unconventional or even controversial, but they've been absolute game-changers for me. They've allowed me to push past self-imposed limits and achieve things I once thought impossible. What beliefs are holding you back? Which ones are propelling you forward?
