Is it hot enough for ya?

Happy Wednesday !
I'm not sure where you're located, but here in Kentucky, it has been a scorcher of a week. The heat index has been in the 100s and it is miserable. I hope you're keeping cool wherever you are!
Life Updates
This past weekend, we had a double birthday party for my oldest (who just turned 9) and my youngest (almost 6). They had a blast at the part with their friends and thank goodness it fell on the last cool day before this heat wave started.
Fun fact. My husband has been making our kids cakes pretty much since their first birthday. This was the cake the kids requested this year.
Pretty awesome, huh?
WIP Update
I finally hit 32k words on my current WIP!! I'm shooting for about 80k words, so I'm almost at the halfway point. I'm not too worried if I go below that though, since during my first round of edits, I typically add 5-10k words. And sometimes, the story just doesn't need more words and that's okay too.
I can't wait to start sharing more about this book with you all, but to hold you over, I'll share a little teaser I posted on Instagram yesterday.
One of my favorite things is when the MMC has a nickname for the FMC.
What about you? Do you like special nicknames in books?
What I'm Reading
Juniper Bean Resorts to Murder by Gracie Ruth Mitchell
I'm still reading this book, but so far, it is a gem. It has unique characters, but still uses several of my favorite tropes: grumpy vs sunshine, forced proximity, an author FMC, and coming home.
The premise is super interesting! It's a romcom, but it's also a murder mystery! And how cute is the cover!? I'll let you know how I feel when I'm finished, but so far it's looking like a potential favorite book!
What are you reading right now?

If only my handsome fiance didn't hate me, and I wasn't so curious about the dark secrets lurking in his family...
