Open letter to Nigerian Employers/Recruiters...

It’s high time some of you got yourselves acquainted with some basic tech skills. I ask, is there any stress in using platforms like google meet, zoom, etc, for virtual interviews?
Why do you always request that applicants travel from far distance (risking their lives and resources) to your center just for twenty to thirty minutes interview that in most cases would be followed by a rejection mail?
Tech has made life easier. You want to have a look at their credentials? That’s beautiful. They can forward the soft copies for assessment and then present the hard copies when they have secured the job.
Also, limiting your jobs to people who are in close proximity to your facility doesn’t make sense to me. It tells bad of you as a recruiter. What if all the applicants within that your geographical location are not qualified enough for that position?
You will still prefer to work with them than a competent individual who is at a farther distance. Your reason? You aren’t tech savvy and can’t organize virtual interviews. Don’t forget, some of these applicants (prospective employees) might be willing/ready to relocate if given the job.
Lastly, except you received a thousand application following your advert, it is imperative you give every applicant feedback on the status of their application.
You can actually do better.
What do you think?
