1. 2022 International Essay Contest for International Young People
This annual essay contest is organized in an effort to harness the energy, creativity and initiative of the world’s youth in promoting a culture of peace and sustainable development. It also aims to inspire society to learn from the young minds and to think about how each of us can make a difference in the world.

2. The Bureau Dispatch Writing Competition 2022
The Bureau Dispatch publishes short stories between 500 to 1,500 words. We are open to all kinds of stories, but are partial to ones that explore this quarter’s narrative focus. The Bureau Dispatch pays US$50 for work published. We require exclusive electronic rights for 3 months and non-exclusive print rights (for future print anthologies or collections) within 2 years of acceptance. All copyrights remain with the author at all times.

3. The Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award 2022
The Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award is administered by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation located in New York City. Entrants are asked to create a completed half-hour to one-hour television drama script. The script must be submitted in English.

4. Queen Mary Wasafiri New Writing Prize 2022
Exceptionally international in scope, the prize supports writers who have not yet published a book-length work, with no limits on age, gender, nationality, or background. The winners of each category will receive a £1,000 cash prize and publication, and will be published in Wasafiri’s print magazine. Shortlisted writers will have their work published on Wasafiri’s website.

5. The Lindisfarne Prize for Crime Fiction 2022
The Lindisfarne Prize for Crime Fiction (‘The Lindisfarne Prize’) is a literary prize which recognises outstanding writing in the genre of crime or thriller fiction, sponsored by the author L J Ross through her publishing imprint, Dark Skies Publishing, in association with the Newcastle Noir Crime Writing Festival and Newcastle Libraries.

6. Drue Heinz Literature Prize 2022
The Drue Heinz Literature Prize recognizes and supports writers of short fiction and makes their work available to readers around the world. The award is open to authors who have published a book-length collection of fiction or at least three short stories or novellas in commercial magazines or literary journals.

7. The Bulwer Lytton Fiction Contest
Founded in 1982 at San Jose State University in California, the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest challenges entrants to compose opening sentences to the worst of all possible novels. Anyone can enter. Must be original and unpublished. Each entry must consist of a single sentence. The entry shouldn’t go beyond 50 or 60 words.
