What Every Author Wants the Most

Jun 18, 2024 1:30 pm

What do authors want? Well, besides being proclaimed a bestselling author on day 1 of a book's release...

That's nice and all but you'll discover most authors are quite realistic so when Sarah J Maas or Cassandra Clare or Colleen Hoover beats us out on the bestsellers list, we mostly take it in stride.

So being the realistic bunch we are, authors really and truly want and desperately need 1 thing to keep us going, to keep our morale up, to keep putting our blood, sweat and tears out there for you.

Authors want this one commodity with every fiber of our beings. And it's the one thing our readers can provide so easily but rarely seem to oblige.

It really is that simple and easy to put a smile on an author's face, to keep them pouring their hearts out on the page for your enjoyment. A review. That's it.

So whenever your read a book, whether you bought it or got it from a friend or grabbed an author's freebie offer...

Thank that author with a review (minimal a rating) on Amazon, Goodreads, B&N, whatever platform you received the book from.

PSA over.

Luna Hunted

We all wept when my brother died. We wept and howled, and I cursed the Moon.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been so tortured.

My parents held me back to keep me safe. “ Yaz, you can’t do this. Yaz, you can’t go there,” all so I wouldn’t suffer the same fate as my brother.

They were right, because when I finally went out into the world, I soon found myself trapped in a dark abyss with a hunter named Ezra. That’s right…our mortal enemies. While his penetrating eyes seethed with hatred, I was blinded by compassion. And what we found was that we had more in common than either would admit, not to mention the unavoidable attraction I felt for him physically. He was brash and arrogant yet tall and unbelievably handsome. His chiseled physique and brooding intensity made him impossible to ignore.

He was a warrior, but as we looked up at the impossible height, we were forced to begin a treacherous journey together to get back to our people. I took care of him because he was injured, but I knew deep down there might be more to it than that.

I hated him, and he hated me. It was the way of things, it was destiny. And yet sometimes destiny can change. Sometimes desire can be cursed. And our every decision will have consequences back home…even if everything feels right in the moment.

But it’s a law of the universe that a hunter and a wolf can never fall in love…

…right?

My thoughts on Luna Hunted:

This one is categorized for YA but even thought I'm a little past YA (I'll never tell just how far past), this was delightful fun and sassy. Better yet... it's enemies to lovers so I was hooked from the get-go.

A Relic To Kill For And A Life To Protect As A Mate

One problem leads to another when I join the archaeological excavation of Ta Prohm.

A unique relic I find ends up getting my team murdered.

And now, I'm on the run for my life, at the same time trying to keep that relic out of the wrong hands.

Help comes in the strangest shape possible.

Two dragon shifters offer me their protection.

Being ex-military, I know I would be safe around them.

Their condition?

For me to become their mate in a menage.

I feel trapped.

I have no other way out other than to agree.

Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't hesitate to be in their arms.

But, can I really trust them in the midst of all this danger?

Dragon Daddies is a paranormal romance by Lilly Wilder with a HEA and NO cheating!

My thoughts on Dragon Daddies: Not one but TWO sexy dragon shifters! Ex-Military! It's sexy, no doubt about that. And I like that it's menage instead of full-on reverse harem with five to ten mates. While I'm more of a one-guy/one-gal type of romance reader, I think this satisfies both the no-cheating fans and the RH fans. It straddles the divide well.

My thoughts on Bedding the Beast: This one does not disappoint in the hot and steamy romance department. Not much in the way of paranormal except for the pesky ghost trying to make her leave. The beast in this scenario is not paranormal in nature but his human nature... well, it can be quite beastly.

Mated to the Werewolf Villain

by Beatrix Arden

Deepa’s life was destroyed by Axel, the unhinged werewolf who turned her. Deepa swears revenge and goes to kill him…only to discover that Axel is her fated mate.

Steamy enemies to lovers fated mates werewolf smut for adults 18+. Contains plenty of adult scenes.

My thoughts on Mated to the Werewolf Villain: Definitely not for the YA crowd, much too spicy. I would classify this as paranormal erotica romance. So if you're looking for sweet or slow burn... go elsewhere. It's enemies to lovers so that drew me in. He turned her into a werewolf and she's mad as h.e.double hockey sticks. But he's smoking hot so... you can guess where that leads. This werewolf telling uses the concept of it's a virus that infects the body and causes one to become a werewolf which was an interesting take and not one pursued as well in other tellings. Just a warning... this is part of a series that ends on a cliffhanger.

He masters fileting fish. She’s skilled at taking down monsters. Will their instant attraction put them dangerously high on a scaly creature’s radar?

Celebrity chef Bruce Kantor isn’t known as “The Bastard” for nothing. And after his short fuse explodes on the job, he rage-quits yet another gig and wanders into a local karaoke bar in search of some liquid consolation. But when his walk home is ambushed by a sharp-toothed creature, he’s shocked when the beautiful singer he was eyeing from his barstool springs to his rescue.

Vee Ramirez plays as hard as she works. So the Company's commanding officer gladly mixes up her rare downtime by belting out tequila-fueled tunes… until she spots a vicious beast stalking a hapless civilian for supper. But when the dragon-like being evades her counterattack, she has no choice but to cart away the ungrateful citizen and secure him at her carefully hidden compound.

Refusing to play helpless damsel to the fierce fighter and her team, Bruce struggles to adapt to a lifestyle way less luxurious than he’s used to—and his growing hots for a woman his polar opposite. And though she’s confused by how easily she bonds with the grumpy outsider, Vee tries to refocus on her mission of protecting innocent humans.

Is their scorching passion at risk of extinction from an invasion of ghastly ghouls?

Agent Zero is the punch-packed first book in the Region Two urban fantasy series. If you like kickass heroines, sizzling hot romance, and edge-of-your-seat action, then you’ll love Janet Walden-West’s banter-filled adventure.

Buy Agent Zero to dive into a deadly serving of fun today!

My thoughts on Agent Zero: This one is more urban fantasy, strong kick@$$ female lead who fights the monsters so there's not romance with the shifter. She's kicking its behind. But there is lots of smoking chemistry with the alpha-male human she saves from the beast. Imagine a sexy but grumpy Gordon Ramsey or Bobby Flay meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Lots of sassy banter leading to steamy love scenes.
