Vampires, Werewolves, and Witches... Oh My!

If you're receiving this email, there's a 90% or higher probability you signed up because of the paranormal and fantasy romance. Right?
Well, let's talk some specifics about what makes a paranormal romance not only steamy to flaming spicy in the romance department, but also TWISTED.
For this example, I'm going to review a novel that checks off all the criteria, including a unexpected and raunchy-comedic dark twist. And it just happens to be titled, TWISTED, by RA Winter.
TWISTED is FUN! The story is FUN! The characters are FUN! The plotline is friggin' hysterical and FUN. And smoking hot, ghost-pepper-in-my-Dr-Pepper sexy.
First of all... Vampires AND Werewolves AND Witches! OMG! Let's go! The top 3 ingredients to any paranormal romance. Most books you find just one or the other, rarely all three sharing the marquee.
Next, enemies to lovers vibes with the most unexpected (and unexpecting) couple! The vampires and werewolves are immortal enemies. They hate and despise each other with a fierceness that'll leave you wondering if they really will rip out each other's hearts and eat them--literally, not just metaphorically. How are these two vicious enemies going to work together to get out this insane situation the witch has put them in?
Speaking of which--the witch! An antagonist (anti-hero) who sets it all in motion for a possible good cause! Honestly, the witch made me want to throttle her for her crazy antics but with the entertaining chaos that ensued... I was hooked.
Little teensy weensy spoiler here: The witch needs these two enemies to work together. How does she do it? Obviously, asking nicely isn't going to work so she ...
Switches their bodies!
It's a hilarious paranormal rendition of Freaky Friday but instead of mom and daughter switching, it's a male werewolf switching bodies with a female vampire! He now has lady parts and a lust for blood (and has to avoid daylight). She now has to stand to pee, smells everything, and has primal Alpha-male urges. The way the author maneuvers around the the points of view is brilliant! By forcing them literally to walk in each other's shoes, they develop empathy and a lot more (hence, the primal urges thing mentioned above).
Ah, but will empathy solve the witch's world-ending problems or will their lust doom this experiment from the start?
You'll have to find out for yourself (click on the book cover above for the buy link).

I had the absolute pleasure of working with RA Winter on this novel, and several others, as an editor. The big challenge was definitely how to balance the body switches with the mental and emotional states of the male werewolf turned female vampire, and the female vampire turned male werewolf. Challenging but what a ride!
