Hi ,
What a way to start our 2023 Series!
kunanyi was, and always will be, Aboriginal land, and it’s a privilege to for us to be able to hold our kunanyi Trail Series events on such a special location. Thank you all for being a part of the Potato Hopper & Snake Plains event, and we hope you each had your own moments out on course - taking in kunanyi’s beauty and strength. A special thanks to Todd Sculthorpe who gave us such a powerful Welcome to Country and Water Ceremony.
Congratulations to everyone who ran in today's Potato Hopper (Enduro) and Snake Plains (Sport) events! These might be some of our tougher courses but we reckon you'll know agree that the landscapes, views and the overall experience makes them pretty incredible trail runs!
A special congrats too to our placegetters - including our first ever Junior winners Ollie, Tik and Ava!
All the results are now up, head to our website to check out your time!
A huge thanks to our volunteers
A BIG thanks to all our volunteers! Events like the Potato Hopper & Snake Plains can't happen without them! They're often out of bed super early, or have helped out in the days leading up to an event, or have super long days to stick around for the pack down.
So THANK YOU - Glenn, John, Lauren, Jaymee, Scott, Carolyn, Matt, Jane, Will, Mel, Alex, Josh, Casey, Michael, Amber, Ollie and Linda!
If you ever want to give back at any of our events this year, you can sign up to volunteer!
More thank yous!
There are many others who help make our events happen!
A special shout out to Find Your Feet, and Tristan and Mel, who joined us with the Chillout Zone and their compression legs and massage gun! If you're ever after new trail running gear, head on in to see the team at the Hobart and Launceston stores - or jump online!
If you were lucky to score one of the FYF vouchers, you may well already be looking at what goodies there are! A huge thanks also to Smitten Merino for the vouchers and beanies, and Lost Freight for keeping many of you caffeinated while running on the mountain!
We hope you enjoyed your post-run apples from Hansen Orchards and drinks from our hydration partner RunX Nutrition!
We can't wait to see those of you running in your new kTS Fractel caps (whether you won one of our new Fractel caps as a spot prize - thanks Fractel! or bought one) and tech tees! We'd love to hear what you think of them!
And remember you can tag us on socials and use #runwithkunanyi - we'd love to see them in action!
Get in quick for the brand new Tolosa Knights & Sporty Knights!
Tolosa Park is such a great event hub, with so many great trails starting from here – we just had to create a new event starting there! Registration is OPEN!
Knights Creek is a classic, steep mountain running trail that every trail runner should test themselves on every now and then!
Choose from a 14km Enduro - Tolosa Knights or the 6km Sport event - Sporty Knights!
We hope to see you and your support crew at Tolosa Park on May 7!
And we hope to also see you at the kunanyi Mountain Run - which is now just 5 weeks away! It's not too late to register!
There's the Foothills 9km which is called the "new kid on the mountain" for a few reasons, including the fact that it's new for 2023 and kid-friendly (over 16 that is), and it's perfect for those who want a shorter run but who still want to be on the mountain.
Or maybe you want to "race to the top" in the Vertical Kilometre, or get your running tribe together and run the Ultra as a relay team - and share the saga! Or try our Ultra Solo or run "the legendary loop" - the Mountain Run 25km.
kMR is also on the look-out for volunteers - so if you want to be involved (and you can do so even if you're running one of the events), you can check out the roles here and even assign yourself to 1, 2 or more!
A huge thanks to everyone involved in delivering all our events for the trail running community!
Cat, Lincoln, and little Charlie
