Hi !

Want 7 extra reasons to #runwithkunanyi?

Whether you've signed up already or are still deciding, we have a little inspo to share. We highly recommend a run-cation (even if you're a Tassie local).

Here are kMR Run Director Lincoln Quilliam's top 7 "cool things" to do around kMR

1. Connect with the cultural stories and song lines of kunanyi/Mt Wellington on a kMR Cultural Mountain Walk

(tours running on both Saturday 29 & Sunday 30 March)

This walk the perfect way to connect deeper with the mountain if you’re running in another event, and for your support crew to do while you run. The stories shared with you will stay with you forever, allowing you to reflect and draw on them - every time you run, or walk, with kunanyi.

This was described as a "must-do" activity by someone who joined the walk in 2024.

2. "Say yes" to a Tasmanian Vacations holiday package & experience Tassie's contrasting landscapes from city to wilderness. Packages include accommodation, hire car and awesome Tassie experiences (on the West & also East Coasts).

PS kMR runners get special rates!

3. Immerse yourself in Tasmania's apple history by visiting Willie Smith’s Apple Shed in the beautiful Huon Valley.

There's live music every Friday night, Artisan Markets every Saturday, and of course, great ciders on tap and a rustic restaurant!

4. Stretch the legs, enjoy the sights and meet some great people, sharing a yarn & drink/bite to eat, at one of Hobart's many social run clubs.

There's the Hobart Trail Runners on a Wednesday night, Knock Offs on a Thursday night and if pastries are your thing, the Hobart Run Club is for you!

5. Will it be the Pole Dancer, the Humbug or the Honeymoon?

All three are part of the Wilder Trails, a community project provided by Find Your Feet that showcases trails and routes around Tasmania that may otherwise remain unknown, forgotten or overlooked by the ‘sexier’ places or races.

Whilst they lean towards trail running, the routes can be enjoyed by walkers too, so they're great for you & the whole support crew/family.

6. Learn where Tasmania's first roller skating rink opened in 1867, where Roald Amundsen stayed after his South Pole victory, and how Tasmania's first icecreams were made way back in 1850!

These are just a handful of 'terrific tales' you can hear on an immersive audio trail of short stories around Hadley's Orient Hotel, a heritage-listed hostel that plays host almost 2 centuries of stories, scandals and secrets.

7. There are stories galore at Cascade Brewery, which is Australia's oldest operating brewery, set in the foothills of South Hobart beneath kunanyi. Join their Historic Tour (all ages) or step behind the scenes in a Brewery Tour (18+).

Book early, because March is still peak season in Tassie, so it's best to book early to avoid missing out, AND to save $$$.

*valid until 11 November 2024 (10% discount offered after that)

Happy planning! We hope you are able to allow for extra time around kMR, to experience what else nipaluna/Hobart (and Tassie) have to offer, hearing stories of creation, secrets, scandals, beer & more.
