I was overjoyed yesterday to see that so many teachers want to participate in the textbook that Timm Freitas and I are writing.
This excites me, because when I launched Teaching Teachers How To Teach Writing a little over a year ago, that’s what I sought to create – a community of writing instructors looking for ways to get their students to grow and mature as writers.
And now look at the work we’re doing!
It warms my heart.
A number of you asked some really good questions, so let me field them:
During our time together in the Masterclass, you’re going to create so much content as far as lesson planning goes. As the course progresses, you’re going to try your hand at implementing my writing workshop model. The research I will gather centers upon your experience with these methods. While we will look at student work together, I will not use any of your student’s work in the textbook.
Yes, even though I am reducing the cost of the Masterclass in half ($297), you have access to everything – including my alternatives to traditional grading and my textbook.
Primarily, what I am seeking is anecdotal information with regards to how successful your students are in terms of incorporating the templates into their writing. Did you and the students see marked improvement? Did their thinking improve? Do the templates demystify the writing process? Did your teaching improve as a result of embracing these templates?
This will consist of a 30-minute debriefing session at the conclusion of the Masterclass.
That’s it! It’s really that easy and painless.
So, if you’ve been on the fence … now is a perfect time to join us.
