The Great Gatsby Tug of War Vocab. Game

image

There’s a ton of buzz right now in the world of ELA with regards to the manner in which we teach vocabulary, especially after what we witnessed after last weeks AP Lit. exam.

In twenty years of teaching, I have likewise noticed the “vacuum of words” and have had to strategize around it.

I just made a new video that I thought I’d alert you to that explores how I gamify vocabulary instruction for full-length texts like The Great Gatsby.

In brief - it involves a bit of gamification, collaboration, and competition through a classic game of Tug of War between students.

Sounds pretty cool … and students actually love it and learn a ton.
