If you have begrudgingly made weekend plans to grade that heaping stack of papers you’ve put off for far too long …
I got good news for you!
You can go make other plans and get some much-needed rest and recovery.
Lord knows you deserve it!
Traditional grading methods are for the birds, yet many persist in engaging this timeworn tradition.
Not only does this singular paradigm consume our evenings and weekends needlessly, but all of our efforts yield very little growth or maturation in our student writers.
Think about it … who is doing the heavy lifting in traditional grading?
The teacher … like 99.9% of the onus is on us … and that’s why it doesn’t work.
Over the course of my career, I have devised a number of alternative grading methods.
In the coming weeks (date TBD), I will be hosting a free webinar with Perfection Learning whereby we’ll explore a few of these alternative grading methods.
I am also going to run a two-hour intensive crash course later next month as well. Plans are in the works.
So, before you sacrifice another weekend – check out my latest video contribution.
It’s an alternative grading method that hails by the name of “Bob Barker’s Blank Check.”
Quite literally, you can get through a class stack in about 40 minutes – but the BIG kicker … your students will learn a TON more about writing in doing this exercise than in you loading their papers with comments.

This is the kind of “stuff” I love to share with teachers. There is more than one way to do grade an essay. And there are so many better ways to grade essays.
Wishing you a happy weekend whereby you get to do you!
