Last week, an ELA teacher in Fort Collins, Colorado (brand new teacher to AP Lang.) reached out to me and BEGGED for me to do a Zoom with her class so that they could get a firm hold on how to perform rhetorical analysis while pulling the strings of my heuristics.
Honestly, when teachers ask me to be a guest in their classroom, I deem it to be an absolute honor and blessing ... I love popping in for a visit and a quick lesson.
During my visit, the students dropped a very fruitful seed.
"Hey, Kristian ... Instead of making your videos for teachers ... make them for students."
Today's video is my first student-facing writing workshop and it features Tara Westover's amazing commencement address: "My Uninstagrammable Self."
But here's the kicker - I invite your students to send me their drafts should they wish to "paint" along with me.
To date, I have had six teachers run this writing workshop in their classes and I have looked at over seventy drafts.
This is not labor for me ... it's beyond cool that students across the nation are using my heuristics.
Here's my invitation ...
Give this lesson a whirl in your classroom and encourage your students to send me their drafts.

I am very confident in my heuristics. I know that they are a complete game-changer.
Happy teaching & happy writing!
