I decided this week to tackle a new and exciting project.
Not only can the teaching of short stories be difficult and time consuming, but there is a definite lack as far as support material goes.
Especially if you’re looking for sources to help in the teaching of the actual essay writing process.
What I have decided to do is launch a series in my YouTube channel that will feature writing workshop videos for the 50 most commonly taught short stories in the American high school curriculum.
I dove in this week and captured content for two classics: The Yellow Wallpaper and Hills Like White Elephants.
If you’d like to glance The Yellow Wallpaper writing workshop, here’s the link:

And to provide an update on the textbook that Timm Freitas and I are collaborating on, things got waylaid on my end. I have been out of commission these past three weeks with covid pneumonia. I’m feeling much better now and am ready to retackle the work.
I am still running the Teach It “Write” 5-Week Mastermind, it’s just that we had to push the start date back to March 13th.
In brief, I am eager to work with a few teachers looking to revamp and/or perhaps reinvent themselves as composition teachers.
We will meet every Sunday night at 7 EST for an hour.
There are more moving parts involved, so if you’d like to learn more, reach out or visit my webpage at https://teachinghow2write.com/teach-it-write-mastermind/
And if you'd like the PowerPoint templates that accompany the writing workshops, just reach out and I'll send them your way.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
