Does grading a stack of essays feel like shoveling smoke for a weekend?
Let’s face it – traditional grading methods do not work and eat up far too much of our spare time. Further, being red-ink-hawks does nothing to advance our students as writers.
Over the years, I’ve learned strategies to reduce my essay grading time and mental hangover without sacrificing student accountability and the benefits of feedback.
My alternative methods to traditional grading put the focus on the student – where it belongs.
Research overwhelmingly supports the fact that traditional grading methods yield very little growth and maturation in our student writers. These alternative methods address that problem head on.
Some of the following strategies will save you days of time every semester.
So, join me Wednesday the 12th at 8 p.m. EST for an alternative grading methods workshop.
Quite literally, bring a stack of ungraded essays and we will have them done by the end of the workshop.
But the kicker … watch your students flourish as writers as a result!
The workshop will only be hosted in Zoom. Below is the link.
I hope to see you for an evening of fun and inquiry.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
