Getting kids to write with voice, rhythm, and flow takes a lot of elbow grease on our behalf.
While many AP teachers have ceased chasing the elusive unicorn point (ugh ... sophistication), I have doubled down on my efforts.
Between teaching my students mastery of Strunk & White's Rule #18 (the 12 sentence types) and the 20 sentence patterns, I'm witnessing a whole bunch of sophisticated writers taking off right before my eyes.
In today's video, I "Bob Ross" how to manipulate sentence patterns 11-15.
This is one way to create a classroom of syntactical ninjas!
As a reminder, I have two other videos in my Youtube Channel (Kristian Kuhn ... the "Bob Ross" of Composition) featuring patterns 1-10.
In the coming days, I'll wrap things up with a culminating video on patterns 16-20 ... just gotta record it.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
