In my efforts to hammer home the basics, while not boring my students stiff, I am always looking for opportunities to offer instruction with a gamified twist.
And that's what I have today: Magic 8 Ball (A Punctuation Game).
As many of you know, I run a Nuance Academy each year that goes over things like grammar, punctuation, syntax ... plus lessons on how to achieve better voice, rhythm, flow (using Strunk & White's Rule #18 as our backbone).
In today's explainer video, I quickly show you how I morphed this PowerPoint game for classroom use.
If you scroll down a tad bit in the video's description, you'll find access to the game template, plus 50 mentor sentences that my students and I created.
This is a ton of fun, but it's also an engaging way to solidify and shore up the basics.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
