Up my sleeve today, I have a really cool exercise to help your students flex their writing chops.
All too often, struggling and emerging writers over-rely on the short-simple-declarative sentence as well as independent clause.
But how do we help these students grow and mature as writers and write with greater pizazz and pop?
The answer is pretty straight forward: teach them the 20 sentence patterns and how to wield each in their writing.
In my latest video, I use my ViewMaster lesson and "Bob Ross" exhaustively how to construct patterns 1-5.
Follow my lead ... sit back ... and watch your students hone their voice, rhythm, and flow.
In the video's description, you'll find a link to download the slides for your classroom use.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
