Not only is the Yarn Test a fantastic alternative grading method, but it's a surefire way to ensure that your students sustain a clear line of reasoning in their body paragraphs from start to finish.
I made a demonstration video for you, and I think you're going to love this exercise.
It enables teachers to grade a stack of essays in minutes, but the trick also clearly delineates for students whether or not they sustained a cogent line of reasoning in their body paragraphs.
They manifestly can see, rather tangibly, how their argument stands up or crumbles.
This trick works for all of the expository modes!
And to follow up on my previous message, the National Writing Project and I are teaming up to host my Teach It "Write" 5-Week Mastermind.
In brief, we will meet for five consecutive Sunday evenings beginning September 25th at 7 EST (one hour per session).
Recordings will be made available.
The kicker - NWP is awarding a ten hour badge of completion ... which is a sweet deal for those looking for a good way to earn some PD credentials.
Reach out with any questions, or visit my webpage for more details.
Happy teaching and happy writing!
