ARCs, art, and apparitions

Hi !

Wow- how is it already Nov. 21? That means (US) Thanksgiving is a week away, and Covens and Curses is 3 weeks away!

COVENS AND CURSES

Apparently my ARC form has been hiding responses because I opened it today, clicked a few buttons, and all of a sudden, new sign-ups reset and appeared.

With that said, if you'd still like to sign up, I'd be happy to have you and I'll get you your copy ASAP. Sign up here: ARCs

Covens and Curses is the second installment of the Emily Lane Saga, where the sharp-tongued attorney finds herself drawn further into a world where magic is real, but the ties that bind are even more complicated.

New novella series: Welcome to the Trope-ics!

I told you in the last email that I've been doing a lot of secret things this year, like drafting a series of romantasy novellas, and now I've officially announced them!

What started as a writing exercise turned into a fun series!

To exercise my creativity during a hiatus, I challenged myself to write short stories using specific literary structures, themes, and motifs. For example, my fave way to write is in first person present. I challenged myself to write an epistolary story (which is necessarily in 3rd person). I also wanted to give homage to my fanfic days (that are decidedly not over) with certain overarching tropes and motifs: handcuffed together, time travel, dream sharing, etc. And the "Trope-ics" was born!

Each novella is set in this shared world, one of all manner of creatures (fae, selkies, sirens, treemonsters, vampires, werewolves, mages, humans, sluagh, and more) and follows a single couple. Most hit the fave romance tropes hard, whereas some are character journeys with romance. Some are sweet, some are spicy. And all have the signature K. Malady touch. 😂😉

Check out this post for more info!

Two covers have been revealed so far, with the blurbs, that I'll put below. (And I have more art than I know what to do with.)

Maeve lives in a remote fishing village on the far northern sea, seeking solace in books and the memories of her mother, who was stolen by the violent finfolk years ago. When her father captures the enigmatic Silas, believing him to be a finman, Silas insists he's a selkie missing his pelt and pleads for Maeve's help. In exchange for his freedom, Silas promises to help Maeve rescue her mother from the finfolk.

Together, Maeve and Silas must navigate treacherous waters, both literal and figurative, to find his pelt and liberate her mother. But the truth, like the sea, is deep and dark, hiding secrets that could change everything.

She Who Frees the Selkie is a sweet slow burn romantasy novella with more adventure than romance.

In the magical realm of Avalaruin, a clumsy and magically inept Sorcha finds herself unexpectedly shackled to Rian, the fae crown prince, by enchanted cuffs, the result of a reckless wish and a too-eager heart. Driven by a desperate desire to break their chains, Sorcha leads them on an journey through their world and the shadowed corners of their pasts.

As they seek freedom from their magical binds, the close quarters stir unspoken feelings, challenging Sorcha to confront not just the spells that bind them, but the long-suppressed ties that draw them irresistibly together. Will her search lead them to liberation, or will she find something even more binding than the golden cuffs?

A spicy romantasy novella.

And I've got a few more to announce!
