Small Town Settings

Happy Wednesday !

What is it about a small town that makes it so appealing in a book setting? I've lived in a small town my entire life, so the natural appeal is already there for me, and I guess it's why I'm more likely to write them. The more I travel, the more I appreciate my one stoplight town. The hustle and bustle of city living don't hold the same charm that a country road and white picket fence do.

I'm still slowly working on the next book and it so happens to be set in a small town. I've enjoyed perusing Pinterest the last few weeks to create a mood board for The Thing About Falling In Love. Want to check it out? Click the picture to take you to my Pinterest board.

The Only Exception

by Mandi Blake

*Kindle Unlimited*

She was supposed to figure out his secret, not fall in love.

Ridge Cooper did what he had to do to protect his sister, and everyone watched as America’s football king lost it all. Only the people closest to him know the truth, and he doesn’t care if the rest of the world hates him as long as they leave him alone. His mysterious new assistant is tearing down his walls and digging up his secrets, and for once, he wants to let someone in.

Cheyenne Keeton took a job that seemed too good to be true: find out what cowboy Ridge Cooper loves most and her ailing mom’s care bills are completely covered. When she gets the job as Ridge’s assistant at a dude ranch in Wyoming, it sounds like her investigation will be easy.

But he’s not at all like the monster she heard about. Invading the privacy he loves so much feels wrong. When Ridge trusts her and lets her in, showing her a love she’d never imagined, she can’t betray him. But backing out of her former deal puts a target on both of their backs.

Cheyenne will do anything to clear his name, but will Ridge forgive her when he finds out what she’s done?image

The Sweet Spot

by Anne Kemp

*Kindle Unlimited*

If you had a second chance with your childhood crush, would you throw caution to the wind and try again…or take a step back and forget about your brother’s best friend?

Ari: When your good friend asks you to be the ambassador for her new food truck, what do you do? You say yes! At least that’s what I did––and then I found out my co-worker is my high school crush who is also my older brother’s best friend. Never mind the kiss we shared years ago…we’re in an enclosed space and there’s nowhere to go.

Carter: Moving back to Lake Lorelei, I hoped Ari was still around. I’ve known her forever as my best friend's little sister, but she’s always intrigued me. I even had a crush on her in high school and we kissed once, but we were young and her brother didn’t want me anywhere near her. Now, we’re in a food truck together and it’s just like old times…
