What are you thankful for?

Happy Wednesday ,
It's almost Thanksgiving! I haven't started decorating for Christmas yet, but I plan to this weekend. I'm in the mood much earlier than the past few years, but I need a Christmas tree first. I technically have one, but all the lights burned out last year, and I've succumbed to the pre-lit tree club. It's so much easier...until it's not. And you have to unstring 500 attached Christmas tree lights.
Anyway, the year is coming to a close, and this is the season for showing gratitude for all the things we are thankful for. God has blessed me & my family with so much this year. I just want to take this opportunity to thank you--my readers, supports, followers--for a wonderful year! I hope you and your family have a blessed Thanksgiving and you are able to share time with loved ones.
New Teaser
"I kick off my flip flops and walk the narrow, rickety wooden planks of the pier until I’m at the end where a single bench sits overlooking the lake. If my mom were here, she would fuss at me for walking barefoot. She would tell me, “Put your shoes on or you’ll get a splinter.” But I know it’s fine. I’ve walked this same wooden path many, many times before."

What happens when a side gig working security turns into a royal calamity?
My mom is clawing her way out of a massive amount of medical debt. So, in addition to being an active-duty Marine, I'm also working security for my friend's matchmaking company to help her out as much as I can.
Then one night, a gorgeous and mysterious woman needs my help evading a group of well-dressed men who are after her. I don't question it, I just get her out of there.
Then I find out she's the princess of a small country, and she wants to leave her royal duties behind.
She doesn't want to go back. I don't want to give her up. Now what?
