Something Personal;

When I was seven years old, I was diagnosed with dyslexia. A common learning difficulty that affects my ability to read and write, but it can also affect me in other ways, such as; telling the time, directions, organisation, or remembering people's names and places, among other things. Which according to the NHS, dyslexia now affects one in ten people in the UK.

But dyslexia isn't all bad news, and a common misconception people always assume is dyslexic people are slow or stupid because their brain works in a different way than 'the average person', when in fact, the opposite is often true. While we might not be able to spell all words correctly, dyslexic people are some of the brightest, most creative minds in the world, people like; Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Whoopi Goldberg, Richard Branson, Cher and Jamie Oliver. 

So despite my own difficulties, I never let my dyslexia or other people's opinions hold me back from being the best version of myself and achieving my dreams. I passed my GCSEs, went to catering college, and even got a degree from University, which I never thought would be possible. But now I'm a self-published author, and although my work is not perfect, I am proud of what I have achieved and work every day to be the best version of myself, and in life, that is all we can ever strive to be.
