A month from now.

,

It's a few days counting down to my departure from my work place.

And I can't help but have mixed feelings of nostalgia and sadness at the same time.

Heck, thinking about it sort of gives me "goosebumps"...

Because my premature exit which is being caused by the ending of the ASSU strike will:

  • Make me not to complete the topics of the scheme of work up to the current week in the various subjects I teach,

  • Make me unable to try to nurture the zeal and enthusiasm for learning mathematics that has just begun to build up in some students (especially the new students),

  • Make me to miss out on disciplining some naughty and notorious children which I have been waiting to pounce on them immediately they slip up (and they WILL slip up... Just that I won't be there to witness it),

  • Ultimately make me miss out on the friendships and relationships I have built with my colleagues, friends and some students.

And yeah I know this makes me sound like an unserious student considering that my exams are starting in a month from now,

Most especially considering the fact that I literally haven't read anything for the past 7 - 8 months,

And my brain is filled with more of sales, marketing, Copywriting, content writing and so on rather than physics, biology, chemistry and the likes.

Frankly speaking, I am not ready for resumption.

The thought of the exams alone sends cold chills running down my spine.

And while expressing my fears to one of my seniors in my department, he gave me some very good advice that immediately strengthened me and brought me back to my senses.

He said...

"We're all humans, and it's normal to be scared. If you're not scared, then that means you're not human.

Let me tell you a secret.

I'm also scared too.

We've been away from school for 8 months without reading, and we have no choice than to write an exam that is not exactly straightforward.

While it's normal to be scared, don't let that fear limit you.

What you need now is not fear.

WHAT YOU NEED NOW IS A STRATEGY."

He went on and on to explain some things to me and encourage me...

I can't write everything he said here ofc,

But the highlight of what he said is what I wrote above in uppercase.

Instead of being afraid of writing the exam, all I need is a strategy.

And truthfully, most of the things we try to do in life and business that we end up not doing -- or end up doing rather poorly -- because of fear or something else...,

Could easily have been done with a solid strategy.

That's why you shouldn't just leave things to chance and say...

"What will be will be"

Or

"Last last we go dey alright"

Nature doesn't answer to speculations or wishful thinking.

It answers to only principles.

So instead of leaving things to chance in your business or skill or even your life as a whole,

Develop a solid strategy and follow up on it.

Keep doing this for 3 to 6 months and then check yourself.

You will find that you have done that exact thing that you were afraid of doing and even more than that too.

Try it and see, thank me later.

I hope you got a nugget or two from this mail,

Cos that's all I've got for you today.

Have a lovely night's rest.
