She Broke My Heart. 🥲
Apr 28, 2023 3:37 pm
My heart sank immediately she responded.
I knew I had no experience in this kind of thing and I was totally unprepared.
But I didn't realize how hard the reality I was now facing would hit when it did.
Suffice it to say, (just like King T'challa - The Black Panther),
I Froze!
I didn't know what else to say.
And you'll understand why in a moment.
But first, let me take you back in time for a bit so that you can understand exactly what happened.
It was Christmas or new year's day back in 2017 or so, I can't really remember now.
A couple of my siblings and friends decided to leave my boring neighborhood and go out to anywhere just to while time away and have a little fun.
Make no mistake, we were all broke ass young lads, so we weren't exactly going to be shutting down the place with our orders.
But we went anyway, and we ended up at an eatery.
As expected since it was a public holiday + it was festive season, the place was packed full.
The queue (which was disorganized by the way) was so long that we weren't able to buy anything, not even popcorn.
So we just went and stood outside the building and we were just talking and gisting.
All of a sudden, my eyes drifted to my side.
And standing a few meters away from where we were…
Was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen in my entire (short) life - back then.
Quite frankly, I was dazzled by her beauty.
And I couldn't even deny it to myself,
To the extent that despite how reserved and introverted I was, coupled with the fact that I was totally inexperienced in things like this,
I thought to myself, "I wish I could talk to this girl."
So I told one of my guys who was with me...
"See that girl over there... She is so beautiful..."
He looked at her and immediately recognized her.
It turned out she was his classmate in his secondary school.
"Wow!", I thought, "This is perfect."
My friend told me he was going to introduce me to her.
I was reluctant at first, but I was too dazed by her beauty not to agree.
So he walked up to her and greeted her casually, while I stood close to him.
And then he introduced us.
I can't remember exactly how the conversation went.
But it went something like this...
Me: "Hi, I'm Daniel..."
She: "Hi, I'm Sharon..." (not her real name btw)
Me: "It's nice to meet you..."
She: smiles*
At that point, my naivety and inexperience kicked in.
I didn't know what else to say to her at that point.
I obviously had never done this before.
So I just blurted out the next thing that came to my head (which is what I thought was typically the next line of action).
And that turned out to be a very grave mistake.
I asked her for her number.
In my head, I thought she probably would have just stretched out her hand, collected my phone and typed in her number.
Unfortunately, this was the real world.
She immediately responded with a firm...
"NO!"
And that was it.
She didn't even hesitate.
At that point I didn't even know what to do next.
My emotions, self esteem and confidence all took a deep dive immediately.
And ever since then, let's just say I took a break from asking any lady for her phone number.
Over the years, I got to realize that Sharon refused to give me her number, not because:
• She was a bad person,
• Or because she was wicked,
• Or because I wasn't handsome enough,
• Or anything in between.
The reason why she refused giving me her number was because...
She simply DIDN'T KNOW ME.
I was a total stranger who she was meeting for the first time,
And the first thing I was asking for was her number,
Which is equivalent to asking for access into her personal space.
And unsurprisingly, she immediately became defensive and refused.
And this is the same way that many business owners, digital product vendors and affiliate marketers lose many sales.
Immediately after generating leads, they try to sell their product or offer to them immediately.
And what happens, just like in my story,
Is that the prospects immediately become defensive the moment they feel you are after their money.
Because the KLT factor is not fully dialed in.
The KLT factor stands for Know, Like and Trust.
The first stage, KNOW, is when you just meet the prospect or when they first come into your funnel.
At this stage, they are just getting to know you.
The next stage is the Like stage.
Just like when a guy first meets a girl, he compliments her, offers to take her out on a date, makes out time to see her, makes her feel very important and things like that,
Overtime she begins to like him little by little.
Same way, you have to nurture your leads with valuable content and information that is useful and relevant to them.
You have to show them that you genuinely care about them and helping them to solve their problems.
And when you combine this with your personality, a lot of your prospects will subconsciously begin to like you.
Once that happens, they will begin to let their guard down and lower their defenses.
Next is the TRUST stage.
At this stage, you must have properly demonstrated to them that you or your product can solve their problems perfectly.
Then they can fully trust you with their money in exchange for the solution they need.
Just like a lady trusts a guy with her heart when she agrees to get into a relationship with him.
Once the KLT factor is fully dialed in, you will sell out your product or offer to your prospects with EFFORTLESSLY.
Don't get me wrong. You can still sell to cold leads (people you are just meeting newly).
But in the long term, you want to make sure you nurture your prospects properly so that you won't have difficulty selling to them in the future.
But one thing you must know how to do if you want to make more sales,
Is to create relevant and tailored content for your audience to help boost the KLT factor,
Which will in turn shoot your sales over the roof as well.
This is just one of the many things that I, alongside the experts I will be bringing on, will be thrashing out in the 3 days Sales Hack Bootcamp.
