,

Yesterday I told you about how I was discussing with my colleagues and suddenly I became a topic of discussion.

It's a really funny story really, especially considering that I was bothering myself trying to explain certain concepts to people who weren't open minded and didn't see things in the same lens as I do.

As they "tackled" me and queried me while somewhat making fun of me,

Several cold chills ran down my spine, as is usually the case whenever I get challenged mentally and emotionally.

And although I knew that while what they said made sense to them, it didn't have to be --and isn't-- true for me,

Their words had honestly begun to get into my head.

But I tried to shrug it off and make my case --which was pointless by the way if you ask me.

But then I did try my best to defend myself...

But before I delve into the story fully, here's something I want you to pay attention to.

In my mail yesterday, I told you about a NINE-letter word that:

  • Give you a deeper understanding of concepts you have learned,
  • Gives you more results than just learning and learning,
  • Helps you discover unique solutions to specific problems,
  • And ultimately helps you grow quicker in your niche or industry.

And that NINE letter word as you already know --unless you missed yesterday's mail-- is...

IMPLEMENT.

But then, most people find it difficult to do this simple NINE-letter action word.

Truth is, in the past (and sometimes in the present), most people is me, and I am most people.

But I have discovered from personal experience that there are several reasons why people don't take action and implement what they have learned,

Even and especially when they know that they would get results when they implement.

And I am going to tell you some of those reasons, and how to circumvent them right away.

I'll try as much as possible to make them short and concise...

So strap on your belt and ride with me. Here we go.

1. Fear of not getting results.

Some people refuse to take action because they are afraid that they won't get results after they implement.

And because of their short-term attention span, they know they will move on to the next shiny object that comes along their way. So why bother?

2. Fear of getting results.

On the other hand, some people are afraid that they would implement and actually get results...

Probably more results than they can handle...

And the sheer thought of handling success puts them under so much mental pressure that they panic and resort to not implementing instead.

3. Laziness.

This one is self explanatory.

Most people are lazy to do the work they know is needed to get them the results they desire.

So they just keep buying courses and learning without implementing.

If you're in this category ,then I'm sorry no one can help you.

Not even God Himself.

4. Impostor syndrome.

Most people struggle with this, but don't realize it, or recognize it for that matter.

They always feel they are not good enough to implement or get results.

And whatever form of success they have, they believe they were just lucky.

So they don't implement because they don't feel they feel they don't deserve to have success.

5. Insufficient motivation/Discouragement.

While it is true that this generation has many advantages over previous generations because of technological advancements and all,

More than ever, this generation has lots of people who need motivation before they can get anything done.

And with the situation of the country where people are busy trying to make their lives less difficult,

Almost no one has time to listen to motivation or even try to motivate others.

There you have it.

As for how to circumvent these problems, that is a topic for another day.

Quickly, let me wrap up my pending story.

So yesterday, I was pressing my phone when my colleagues started talking about what I normally post on my status...

And the conversation went something like this:

"Ehen, Daniel I don't understand that thing you normally post on your status sef about mails.."

"Ohhh, that? I have an email list that I send out mails to daily."

"So they will just sit down and be reading your mail?

What do you talk about there? Is it not all these motivational stuff?

Is there anything there that gives you money?"

"No, I'm trying to build an audience that I can provide value to, and sell to in the future."

Another colleague of mine who was there cut in:

"This man? I don rest from you now since wey I no get phone (his phone got spoilt a while ago)

Dey there dey disturb yourself...

For this country wey hard like this, you think say people get time to dey read something?

You just dey waste your time."

The previous colleague continued:

"See, if you wan blow and make money for this Nigeria, just find something stupid wey you go dey do wey go make people dey laugh. You go quick blow.

Dey there dey post motivation up and down"

Then he proceeded to give me examples like Brain Jotter, Sabinus, the "cultist" guy who normally says "you wan collect", and other people,

In an effort to illustrate to me that to become famous and make money, what I needed to focus on was finding something foolish or funny that people would like.

And that was how the conversation kept spiraling into an absolutely unnecessary argument,

All because I was busy trying to convince them that everyone is not like them, and that despite the number of people who love catching cruise, I can filter out my target audience.

But then, after a while, I realized that it was pointless trying get them to understand what I am trying to build --I mean, if they think all I talk about is motivation and are already against it, imagine what they would say when I start explaining Copywriting to them.

And the reason is because I don't yet have enough solid results to make them come to me and ask me to "show them the way".

And so, I have resolved to do that instead -- focus on getting results.

There are quite a number of lessons to learn from this funny story,

But I'll save them till tomorrow.

In the meantime, have a nice evening ahead.

To your digital success,

King Danisan™.
