A while ago one of my close friends told me that about a class he wanted to run.

And he told me to contact a graphics designer for him and negotiate the price to get the design done.

But I told him that I would only do that after he is ready and has sent the money to me.

And a few days ago, he sent me the money for the design and asked me to go ahead and get it done.

Meanwhile, the guy who designs for me had been delaying my work for a while now.

So I wasn't really pumped up to tell him about this new job.

And I knew based on my previous experience that if I went to another Designer to negotiate,

They would not accept the price my friend was willing to pay.

Plus I needed some urgent 2k to get some things done and keep body and soul together.

I thought about it and...

Instead of giving someone else the job to do, I decided to do it myself.

In case you're new here and you don't know, I learnt graphics design in the past.

But I left graphics design to focus on copywriting and marketing generally.

And although I had doubts in my ability to design a good flier...

Especially because it had been a long time since I designed anything serious.

But I summoned courage and did the design anyway.

The process was both hard and easy.

It was easy because I still remembered a few design tricks I have used in the past.

And it was hard because I didn't have any inspiration or creative flow to work with.

Plus I didn't have any design resources on my phone.

So it took a while before I started getting back into my design skin.

But when I finished with the design, I showed it to my friend.

And guess what...

He loved it.

And even though I know that it took me a lot of time and energy to make the design as beautiful as possible,

It reminded me of something that someone I respect on my CL posted a few days ago...

Which is...

Whether you think you can do something, or you think you can't do it, you are right in both instances.

Read that again and think about it.

I initially thought I wouldn't be able to come up with something catchy and compelling enough to please my friend especially because he knew me personally.

But then I reminded myself that I had enough experience to do what I needed to do.

And after doing it to the best of my ability, he ended up liking it.

But if I had let my attitude of discouragement stop me from trying,

I wouldn't have known just how good the design would have been.

Plus I wouldn't have made the little money I made from it.

So this is me saying to you this evening.

Whether you think you can do something or you think you can't do it, you are right in both instances.

If you think you can do it, you're right.

And if you think you can't do it , you're absolutely right too.

The choice is yours.

But if I were you, I would think I can do it.

And remind myself why I know I can do it.

And then I would go ahead and do it to the best of my ability and achieve my goals and dreams.

That's my two cents for you today.

Have a nice day.

Daniel.
