{{contact.first_name}}, you are selfish.

Hi .
What's up?
It's sort of becoming a (bad) habit of mine now to mail you (almost) only every Sunday.
Yeah I know.
- Some days, I'm just so busy doing school work,
- Some days, it's me writing content for the brands I work with,
- Some days, I just don't remember until it's too late,
- And other days, it's just pure laziness on my part,
But nevertheless, I won't stop trying to send out these newsletters until it becomes a force of habit.
That, I am determined to do, and I will.
But there's even one more thing about myself that I don't like,
And I feel that it's a huge contributor to my inactivity and lack of productivity.
Matter of fact, I know that this thing is one of my biggest challenge,
And I have thought about it, prayed about it and tried to stop it it, but so far, my efforts have been less than fruitful,
And I will tell you about this challenge in a moment,
But first, here's my usual Sunday morning random thought.
The topic of the message taught in my church today was "The greatest curse of humanity".
The focal point of this teaching was that every action of humans,
Every sin, every bad character, such as adultery, fornication, rape, scam, lying, pride, arrogance, laziness and all of those stuff,
They all can be traced down to one particular thing,
And what is that thing?
It is called SELFISHNESS.
Just think about it for a minute.
Every action we all take, deep down is driven by one thing,
And that is the love for yourself,
The urge to want to satisfy your deepest desires, needs, wants and cravings.
And while, that is the opposite of the behavior of Christ which we are to emulate as Christians i.e SELFLESSNESS,
I want to quickly draw out a marketing lesson for you..
Deep down, people are selfish,
We all are..
Even you , you are selfish.
Because in your personal scale of priorities, I'm pretty sure YOU top the list before any one else, even the so called "LOML" sometimes.
And because people are selfish, they usually only care about themselves (the most).
That's why you don't want to appear desperate when you are selling your product or offer to them.
Because the moment they sense that you are after their money and not their well being, they immediately become defensive and determined not to give you their money.
But if you position yourself properly as someone with good intentions for them, as someone who is only trying help them:
- Become more beautiful or handsome,
- Become more healthy,
- Become richer or make more money,
- Become more clean or hygienic,
- Become more productive,
- Have a healthier relationship with their spouse or others,
- Enjoy a better sex life,
- Stand out among others,
- Help them solve their problems,
- And so on,
Then they will willingly come to you and ask for your help and even pay you for it,
And the result?
You will end up making a boatload of money, and helping a lot of people while at it,
All because you are helping them satisfy their egos(s), desires, wants and cravings.
It's that simple.
- That's the reason why products like iPhones keep selling like wildfire, because people want to stand out (selfishness),
- That's the reason why ponzi schemes keep cashing out on Nigerians, because people want to make money without doing any work (selfishness),
- That's the reason why brands like Kolaq Alagbo still sells out their products like wildlife, because people want to enjoy a better sex life or prove to their partner that they are "man enough",
- And so on.
As long as your product helps people satisfy themselves in one way or the other, with correct positioning, just get ready to make a lot of money.
I'm sure you get the point now.
Yeah?
Good.
Now to that thing that has been a big challenge for me,
That has hindered me from being as productive as I can for a long time,
It's something quite natural,
And I should probably be grateful to God that I have the luxury in the first place,
But too much of everything as they say, is bad.
And what is this thing?
SLEEP!
Doctors will tell you that you need about 7 hours of sleep as an adult.
And normally, that's just about the amount of time I sleep for.
On average, I sleep around 12:00AM, and wake up around 6:30 or 7:00AM.
But here's the catch.
I know that waking up early is very good, because it helps you to plan your day and get a good head start,
And I want to do it all the time,
But I also don't like to sleep on time, because that's the time of the day when I feel I am less disturbed, and hence I tend to be more productive at night,
But sometimes, sleep gets the better of me and I fall asleep.
And once I sleep bayi, just know that it's till daybreak.
So most of the time, I end up doing little at night, and immediately I wake up, I have to quickly prepare and head out to work.
And from there, it becomes a vicious cycle, of unproductivity, mediocrity and little progress,
And I am tired of it.
I have tried setting alarms, but whenever the alarm rings, I wake up just enough to switch it off and then...
You guessed it...
I go back to sleep.
I apologize if I am making this mail too much about me,
But if you have got any advice for me, just shoot me a reply..
I'll be glad to hear from you.
In the meantime, you have yourself a lovely Sunday's rest.
To your digital success,
King Danisan™.
P.S: Two days ago, on my WhatsApp Status, I talked about Content Blocks as a content writer and how it's not uncommon to have them.
I said I would talk about how to circumvent or find a way around them, especially the tricks that I use,
Or not.
So I'm asking you.
Do you want me to share them, or I should mind my business?
Shoot me a reply with "YES" if you want.
Let me be thinking about it first.
P.P.S: I started learning a new language last week with an app on my phone..
The app is so much fun, and I have learned so much in so little time.
Guess the app and the language by replying to this mail.
Okay, adios now.
