Deadline: Last chance to get in.
Jul 09, 2023 9:42 pm
Hey .
Today is Sunday...
And normally, today is supposed to be a bright and sunny day.
But the weather had other ideas.
And that made me reluctant to send out a mail today initially.
But then I remembered that today is the last day that you will be getting a valuable email from me.
So I decided to write to you anyway.
So today I want to teach you about something very important that you want to avoid doing when you are writing copy or any form of marketing message to sell your product.
This is one of the Principles of Persuasion that top copywriters and marketers use to sell out more of their products easily.
As a product vendor or a service provider, your job is mainly to solve people's problems.
And sometimes to help people solve their problems, you need to make them know the cause of their problem,
So that you can as well tell them how to solve the problem (by getting your product or using your service).
But the problem is, most times, people are the cause of their own problems.
And as much as you want to pass your marketing message across to them clearly,
You might want to avoid telling them it's their fault, or that they are the cause of their problem.
You may ask...
"Does that mean I have to lie to them?"
No I didn't say that.
Here's what I mean.
You need to shift the blame off your reader's shoulder.
If there is one thing humans hate, it's taking the BLAME for something.
If you tell a young man who doesn't have a job and is sitting at home idle...
That it's his fault that he is poor because he is lazy, he probably won't take it lightly.
Same with telling a person with high blood sugar that it's their fault for taking too many sugary soft drinks.
Nobody wants to take the blame for anything.
So if you want your reader to agree with you quickly, then you need to shift the blame from their shoulder.
Let's look at an example.
For example, a lady has a lot of pimples on her face, and yet she keeps eating a lot of groundnuts.
Telling her that it's her fault for eating too many groundnuts is a suicide mission for your copy,
Because she won't listen to you anymore, even if she knows deep down that you are telling her the NAKED truth.
Instead, you can say something like this.
"It's not your fault that your face is littered with pimples everywhere,
Because most of the food being produced by companies these days contain too much oil/cholesterol which reacts with your skin and causes pimples."
Instead of crawling back into her shell, she will most likely think...
"Hmmm, you're probably right..."
And boom, you and your reader are on the same page.
This is a critical part of any copy or marketing message.
Because the moment you get your reader to agree with you mentally and be on the same page with you...
You are already one step closer to making the sale.
Do you get it?
Good.
Let me give you one more example.
Imagine a man who is fat, heck even obese, and he keeps eating junk food.
Everybody knows that his main problem is the junk food he has been eating.
But are we going to tell him that directly?
Of course not, well except you want him to run away.
Instead we are going to shift the blame onto something else.
You can put the blame on the manufacturers of the junk food or on the ingredients used to make the food, or on the food not being easily digestible, and so on.
And how do you know what exactly to shift the blame on?
By conducting deep research on your product and on your customer.
If you can get this part right in your copy and marketing messages,
Trust me you will sell out a whole lot more.
Do you understand now?
Good.
Now where are my sunflowers?
Afterall, today is Sunday, yeah?
So let me see the sunflower emojies in your replies to my DM.
Have a lovely night's rest.
To your digital success,
King Danisan™.
PS: Today is the last day of opportunity to join my new email list which is launching this new week.
If you haven't indicated interest in joining my new list because you have been procrastinating,
This is your last chance.
After today, you won't receive any more valuable emails from me.
And yeah, those who will be on the new list will be getting lots and lots more of this kind of valuable marketing tips, tricks, nuggets and hacks from me.
If that sounds like something you want to be a part of,
Reply this message with your full name and your best email address.
Or not.
Again, this is your last chance to get in.
I hope to see you on the other side.
Bye!
