It felt so cringe back then

I remember when I was going to first start selling goods in school.

I was sooooooooo scared. Lmao.

I had a few accessories laying around in my bag, but I was too scared (or shy) to even tell my roommates about it, let alone other people.

It was so bad that other people who sold the same thing would even come into my room and advertise to my roommates.

And sometimes they would even enquire and maybe end up buying.

And there I was.

Goods in bag, but broke, all because I was shy.

Until one day, after one of the other guys who came to advertise in my room had just left,

I muttered to my roommates that I also sold those items.

Surprised, they asked me why I didn’t say anything about it all this time.

One of them in particular encouraged me to start going from room to room to talk about the products.

He even went as far as going along with me to a couple of rooms to help me get the hang of it, that same day.

Boy was I shy.

It felt so cringe back then.

Until I made the first sale.

That first sale flipped a switch in my brain..

It was then it dawned on me that I’d been sleeping on a goldmine.

I’d been leaving a lot of money on the table.

Ever since that first day, I have gone on to advertise my products practically every single day (well, nearly) to every room in the hostel.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

The lesson here isn’t just about starting something that you know is going to help your life.

It’s that…,

It wasn’t until I started actually going from room to room every day, that I began to learn what I really needed to know and do to make those sales.

For example:

  • How to close deals easily,
  • What to say when I entered a room,
  • How long to make my sales pitch for,
  • Whether to knock before entering or not,
  • What time to go round the rooms to advertise,
  • How to convince customers to make the purchase,
  • How to transfer belief in a product onto a customer,
  • How to identify and differentiate those who really want to buy, from those who are just asking or whining,
  • And a whole lot of other things I can’t remember now.

The point is, I’d never have learned all of these things if I never got started.

If I had kept being scared and remained in my shell, unwilling to get out and do what needed to be done,

Who knows what would have happened.

Maybe hunger would have done a number on me by now.

But one thing’s for sure.

I’d definitely not be here writing a 30 Day Business Lessons Series to you.

And you wouldn’t be able to learn from my story today.

So I don’t know what that business idea that you have been sleeping on is.

And I don’t know what that activity that you have been procrastinating is.

But what I do know is that, if you don’t get started now, you will be missing out on a whole world of good.

Heck, you’d miss out on stuff you would never even know you are missing out on, until you actually get started and begin to see the benefits for yourself.

So stop procrastinating.

Stop being such a lazy bone.

Stop proving your village people right.

And finally get your act right, by taking action.

Trust me, you have no idea the goodies waiting for you on the other side of your action.

I’m rooting for you.

P.S. In case you have an idea you’ve been thinking about but don’t have enough confidence in the idea, or you just need someone to talk it through with,

You can reply to this email and let’s talk about it.

Afterall, the idea to start this accessories business of mine all started from a random conversation I was having with a friend on Facebook a couple of years ago.

Who knows the great things that could be birthed from ordinary conversations.
