I am a PRINCESS!

,
You may not have noticed, but I haven't sent you a mail for the past few days.
And I could spend the next few lines explaining the reason why I didn't send you a mail for two days or thereabout...,
Or I could just go ahead and tell you what I have for you today.
Honestly speaking, I really don't feel like writing to you today due to reasons which you would understand in a bit,
But then I don't want to give room for further slacking.
So today, I will share with you a few (not so) random thoughts I have had in the past couple of days and some lessons you should learn from them.
That said, leggo!
1. The value of something is tied to (and influenced by) its abundance/scarcity.
Since ASSU called of the strike and I announced my imminent departure to my employer and some of my colleagues,
I began to realize just how important or valuable I was to some of them,
Well at least for those that expressed how much they would miss my presence.
And if you think about it, they probably didn't realize how much they valued me, until they were about to "lose me".
And this is the same way it is with most things in life.
Anything that is abundant (both in nature and otherwise) is usually UNDER-VALUED - It's basic human nature.
Examples are things like air, water, people, life and so on.
But the things that are relatively scarce or difficult to obtain tend to be valued much more than other things.
Examples are raw materials like gold, other things like money, love and so on.
And these past few days have taught me that to be valuable, you need to have an element of scarcity.
As a business owner or service provider,
- Not everything deserves your attention, especially if it's not going to bring in money.
- Not every service should be done for free.
- Not every information should be given out for free.
- In fact, not everyone should be able to have access to you to ask questions or do certain things (depending on your level sha).
Don't make it seem as if people are doing you a favour by buying from you or using your service.
Instead, attach elements of scarcity to what you sell or what you do, and you will see a corresponding increase in perceived value by your audience...
Which will in turn result in increased revenue for you and for your business.
2. Peer pressure is HANDS-DOWN the MOST Dangerous "social" force to go up against.
It's easy to talk down or bad-mouth people who join bad gangs or go from good to bad because of the kind of friends they keep.
But if you calm down to think about it very well (and even remember your past or younger self),
Then you will realize just how powerful this force called PEER PRESSURE is.
I was reminded of this myself yesterday when I was out with some of my colleagues to unwind.
And while most of the guys were having some bottles of beers,
Myself and my brother ordered a bottle of malt each.
And pretty soon, the pressure started.
"Daniel, take one bottle of beer na!"
"Nope. I'll just have my malt"
"Come on now! It's just one bottle."
"Nah, I'm good."
"Heaven man! Na only you wan go heaven abi?"
...
Over the period of time which we were there for, my brother and I experienced more than a few "nudges" from nearly everyone who was present,
To just "loosen up a bit" and take "just one bottle".
The highlight of it was when one of my colleagues said to another colleague,
"Look at them,
Princess Daniel...
And...
Princess Emmanuel.
We the men are drinking beer, while the princesses are drinking malt"
Trust me when I say it wasn't a fun thing to experience.
Moreso, it wasn't only in the area of drinking alcohol that I was pressured,
But I'd rather not talk about the other areas.
The fact that I was made to feel "left out", "immature" and "not man enough" just because I have a "no alcohol" policy,
Just goes to show you how powerful this force called peer pressure is.
And maybe someday, I will take time to properly breakdown peer pressure and why it easily affects people.
But for now, let's hop on to the last random thought for today.
3. In the end, family is EVERYTHING.
Just looking back at my (short) life and everything I have been through,
I have come to appreciate having a family over everything.
Because when the going gets tough and everyone leaves,
Only your family stays.
And that alone is what makes family so important.
And just so you know, some people (or friends) can be close enough and can "be there for you" enough for them to become (or qualify as) family.
You probably have some of them in your life, and you should take time out to appreciate them a lot when you can.
I believe this would help you become a better (and more grateful) person in life,
Plus it would strengthen your relationship with them more.
Were you able to relate with anything in this mail today?
Reply and let me know.
In the meantime, have a lovely night's rest.
To your digital success,
King Danisan™.
P.S: I just resumed back to school,
And my daily schedule is currently undergoing a transformation because of the rush of exams and tests.
Hopefully, it won't affect my daily mails.
But if there will be any changes, I will let you know in due time as they come.
Peace.
