I Was Trapped For 15 WHOLE Minutes!

,

I was on my own thinking of what to write to you today in order not to break my "email streak",

And I just decided to take a scroll through Twitter, make some tweets and drop some valuable comments as usual.

Suddenly, I came across a thread and opened it.

And before you know it, I kept scrolling and scrolling and scrolling until I got to the end of the thread.

I didn't realize it earlier, but I was drawn into the thread because it was an interesting story.

You needed to see me grinning from ear to ear at the creativity of the writer.

Because the way she vividly described the scenes in the story sent my imagination running wild immediately.

Needless to say, I immediately commented on the thread and followed the writer.

As if that was not enough, while going through the profile of the writer whose story I read, I saw another thread of someone else which she retweeed.

I opened the thread just to 'take a look' and then I started reading.

I had read...

Part I,

Part II,

Part III,

And I was anxiously waiting to get to the end of the story...

Before I realized from the comments section that the writer hadn't finished writing the story.

And in my mind, I was like...

"Ogbeni write fast jare!" 😂

But there was nothing I could do.

Note: Each thread/part had around 10 - 15 or even 20 tweets.

Thinking about it,

I realized (I already know this, but it was a fresh reminder) that the best way to EASILY suck in readers into your copy or content is to tell vivid and emotionally compelling stories.

I'm taking about the "movie-script" kind of stories.

And it reinforced my belief that the length of your copy or content doesn't matter.

What matters is whether it is interesting to the reader or not.

That's the reason why you have read this mail to this point without realizing that all I have done so far is tell you a story about how I was trapped for 15 minutes in a thread on Twitter by the power of good storytelling.

That's the same way your reader will read your marketing message to the end without realizing it, if you employ the power of good storytelling properly.

So when you are writing, use emotionally compelling stories.

Also focus on making your copy or content interesting and leave the length of your copy alone (in Dolapo's voice).

Even if you're not telling a story, don't make it boring. Make it interesting and you will get more eyeballs to the end of your copy even it its as long as river Niger.

I hope you got a nugget or two from this mail,

Cos that's all I've got for you today.

Don't forget, I'm rooting for your success.

Together, we will win in this online game together.

To OUR digital success,

Yours writing,

King 'emotionally compelling storyteller' Danisanâ„¢.
