How to sell to Nigerians?

Hey ,
Yesterday, while I was in Bible study,
The teacher of the study session -in his usual manner- was asking the congregation a question from a particular scripture portion.
He asked one person the question and the person couldn't answer.
All of a sudden, he called my name and asked me the question.
I wasn't expecting him to call me and I was caught unawares,
Although I wasn't surprised because (like I said,) this teacher has a knack for asking people from the congregation questions.
Anyway, I had to ask him if he wanted an answer in the scriptural context or in a more general context,
Then I answered his question.
After I answered the question, I thought about the question deeply and realized that there is a huge marketing lesson to learn from it.
I will tell you the question I was asked and the answer I gave.
I will also tell you the marketing lesson you need to learn,
But first, there's something I saw on Twitter some days back that has been bothering my mind.
Even my mentor Dolapo talked about it in his mail, and I feel I need to talk about it.
A Twitter influencer named PamPam or something like that made a tweet that said...
"I should pay you 50k to teach me how to make 7 Figures.. Why aren't you making the 7 Figures yourself, or aren't you destined to make 7 Figures? Oloriburuku affiliate marketer"
Actually, it was my brother that tagged me to that tweet.
And if you had seen the comments, you'd have been as heartbroken as I was.
Because of the way some affiliate marketers have painted affiliate marketing, people are now calling it a scam.
They make it seem like a ponzi scheme, that once you register, you just need to get one person or two to register, then you get your registration fee back.
They also do lifestyle marketing, by showing off all their trips to Egypt, Dubai and the likes.
Hence, they have attracted a lot of lazy people who aren't ready to put in the work but are expecting to make 6 and 7 Figures and live a flashy lifestyle.
Smh!
I'll admit, I also had the same mindset when I signed up to learn the business of affiliate marketing,
But after a while, I realized that I have a lot of things to put in place before I can succeed as affiliate marketer...
And maybe, just maybe one of these days, I'll talk about some of those things,
Or not.
I'll think about it.
Meanwhile, the question I was asked in church yesterday was taken from the book of Hosea 10:12,
And the focal point in the verse was
"...break up your fallow ground..."
So the teacher asked me,
"What does 'fallow ground' mean?"
I answered with;
"A fallow ground is a ground that has been left for a long time with nothing planted on it, and that has become hard".
Instead of confirming whether my answer was correct or not,
He just went ahead to buttress on what I said and cited examples to further explain it.
Thinking back, I realized that just the same way a land becomes hardened when it is left for years without being cultivated,
That's how your prospects mind has become hardened overtime about your product,
Especially if they have tried other products in the past which didn't work or had a negative effect on them.
They have sealed up their mind with regard to that problem or product,
And there's nothing you want to tell them that they have probably not heard before.
Their mind has become fallow overtime, and these are the most difficult people to sell to.
Most Nigerians are often this way, because a lot of us have been scammed in the past.
How do you sell to such people then?
How do you write a copy or marketing message that will not flop in such situation?
Here are some things you can do.
1. Handle all objections.
These people have loads of objections and reasons why they will never buy your product.
Don't wait for them to say them.
Bring them up and tackle them one after the other.
Tell them why other products didn't work for them,
Tell them why your product is different from other products they have used in the past,
Tell them why your product is better, faster and easier to use than other products,
Tell them why your product is definitely going to work for them,
And watch the magic happen.
2. Use testimonials and case studies.
People tend to believe what other people say about your product than what you say yourself.
Show them how your product transformed the lives of other people.
Show them testimonials and reviews.
Use case studies of how your product specifically helped someone overcome or solve a specific problem.
This is how to sell to Nigerians.
3. Apply Copywriting.
Don't just write bland words.
Attach emotions to your words.
Target the emotions that make people tick and use it to get them to buy your product.
Tell stories that resonate with them and show the result they dream of having.
Caress them with your words and make them beg you to take their money.
4. Craft Irresistible offers.
Create the kind of offers that would make people feel that they are ripping you off.
The kind of offers that would make them think that they'd be crazy not to take it.
To do this, there should be a huge gap between the perceived value of the offer and the actual price they are to pay for it.
For example, when the offer is worth $1000 and they get to pay just $100.
Anyone would be crazy not to take that kind of offer if they can afford it.
That said, that's my two cents for you today.
