Damilare Aribisala’s review of Domino's Pizza

Jan 23, 2025 10:22 am

Yesterday I had an interesting opportunity to assist Damilare Aribisala as he hosted the two licenses of TEDxUNILAG 2024 on his most recent episode of his podcast themed around people doing great things from small places.

You can imagine how interesting it was to not just listen, but also watch the Leader Bill and Jescil Richard in their element…

Both while they were speaking during the actual podcast interview, and all the interesting and funny “behind the scenes” moments…

…some which I was able to get on camera, as that was my job, to assist with media content.

Needless to say, it was a few hours of intense fun and value.

Because trust me, I learned a whole lot from the interview, and saw certain things in a different light, even though I already knew a lot of the backstory behind TEDxUNILAG before then.

So when we were done shooting and recording, we went to relax and get a bite at AY's pizza in Jaja Complex inside Unilag.

And while we were waiting for our order, Jescil made a note that she actually thought Domino was the only pizza brand that existed.

And that it was only recently she realized that there were other pizza brands such as Dodo pizza and AY's pizza.

Which means that whenever she thinks of pizza, the name that comes to mind is Domino.

In other words, Domino's pizza is first on her mind.

And I'm sure it's the first on your mind too.

And while we talked about it, we couldn't help but give them credit for their branding efforts.

Because it takes a lot of branding effort to cement yourself as a brand or business at the top of the mind of your target audience.

But what shocked me more was Damilare's review of Domino's pizza.

Apparently, their pizza tastes like “bread and stew”.

Lmao. 😂😂😂

Leader also confirmed this statement.

And yet, I'm willing to bet their pizza's are still the best selling pizza in Nigeria, and even all over the world.

Why is that?

Effective marketing and branding.

Now there are a lot of lessons to draw out from this story.

But I want you to figure them out on your own today.

And send me a message telling me what you learned from it.

I want to hear from you.

For your business’ success,

— KD™

P.S. Having great marketing and branding isn't an excuse to have products that suck.

And that is in no way what I am endorsing with this mail.

Just thought to clear the air on that one.
