Do you want it or not?

,

Here’s an interesting question someone asked me a while ago.

“Why is marketing seemingly so easy but actually kinda hard (if you ask me)?”

Believe it or not, I can totally resonate with that question.

Because when I started out with marketing and copywriting, most of the terms and concepts, although interesting, sounded like gibberish to me.

And yes, it can look pretty easy from the outside especially when you see other folks pulling off great feats with their marketing.

Until you decide to try it out yourself.

And all of a sudden, you’re confused.

You don’t even know where to get started from.

Here’s the sincere truth.

Marketing/Copywriting isn’t a walk in the park.

But it’s not exactly the most difficult thing in the world either.

And just like with most skills and endeavours, you get better at it with time and consistency.

Sure, you might still get days where you’re confused.

Sometimes, you’ll rack your brain for ideas, and you won’t find any.

Sometimes, you might use the strategies you have learned, and you won’t get the kind of results you imagined.

Sometimes, you might spend money on a campaign and it would flop.

Other times, you might try everything you know and the market just might not respond.

Trust me, it happens to the best of us.

But it’s not the end of the world.

You can always take a step back and try to figure out what went wrong, and try to fix your mistakes.

And just like I mentioned in one of my past emails, one of the best things you can do is to go back to the basics.

You can never go wrong with the basics.

That and a little bit of creativity.

Sometimes, thinking outside of the box can be a good thing in marketing.

But then, thinking isn’t lazy work.

It’s been said that the major skill needed to thrive with copywriting is THINKING.

And with good reason.

Because you have to constantly think of fresh and new ideas, unique copy/marketing angles, interesting big ideas, and so on.

It’s probably not as difficult as it sounds.

But it’s definitely a lot harder than most people think it is.

Essentially, what I’m trying to say is that marketing is both hard and easy.

It just depends on how much time you’ve spent accumulating knowledge and honing your skill.

And your humility to go back to the basics when everything you have tried hasn’t been working.

Plus, your ability to whip up creative new ideas on the fly.

Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be fine.

But you have to start first.

A couple of months ago, I hosted a practical class where I talked about the basics of marketing.

You can tell easily from the name – Marketing 101 – that I started from scratch and built all the way up from there.

And I’m thinking of making the recordings available.

But I’m not sure if you want it.

Now, we don’t cast pearls before swine here.

Supply meets demand here.

So what’s it going to be?

Do you think I should make the recordings available?

Do you want it or not?

Shoot me a DM and let me know.

See you in the next one.

Yours “humble enough to go back to the basics”,
