I was struck by "lightning"!

,
In class today, I was sitting with one of my coursemates who I had earlier asked to tutor me on a particular topic in chemistry.
(In case you hadn't figured it out from any of my previous mails, I am still a student.)
Anyway, while she was teaching me and a couple other coursemates of mine,
She illustrated a particular concept by using something which seemed pretty basic.
But it struck my mind heavily, like lightning.
And you probably won't understand unless I give you a little chemistry backstory.
Don't worry, I won't bore you with unnecessary details because I know you may not be a science student.
The topic she was "lecturing" on was thermodynamics.
And during her explanations, she was trying to explain a concept known as "state function".
In chemistry terms, State functions are "quantities" that depend only on the current state (or condition) of the system (the materials reacting together) and not on the pathway (or route) they take to reach that state.
In layman terms, state functions are quantities that do not depend on the "journey" it takes to reach a particular state. They only depend on the current state of the system.
In my coursemate's words, nobody cares about how you get to your destination. What really matters is where you are now.
For example, life itself is a state function.
Nobody really cares how you succeed, how you make money or how you get to the top.
What they only care about is your current state - or your current status.
This "state" could mean money you have made, heights you have attained or results you currently have in your niche or industry.
Now let's relate this to marketing.
No marketer really cares how a prospect gets to the point of making the buying decision.
What they truly care about is the current state (buying decision - whether to buy or not) of the prospect.
The journey a marketer has to create for the prospect to go through before making the buying decision involves a lot of things.
Like generating leads in the first place,
And then taking them through the sales funnel which includes:
• The advert that first gets their attention,
• The sales page,
• The opt in page,
• The follow up messages and emails, and...
• The closing calls.
All of these things are quite important no doubt.
Afterall, the sales won't be possible if these things are not set up properly and put in place (most of the time anyway).
But at the end of the day, as a marketer or business owner,
What really matters to you is the "state" of your prospects' minds - and essentially your marketing campaign.
Which to you may translate to sales, conversions, consultation bookings, money, results, etc.
So basically the success of your marketing campaign is a state function, because it doesn't just depend on the journey or pathway it takes to being a success,
But on the current state of the campaign.
What really matters is whether or not it succeeds and how much it succeeds.
I don't know if I did a good job of explaining it in layman terms enough for you to understand.
But I hope you got the gist.
And I hope you learnt a thing or two from this mail.
Have yourself a lovely rest of your day.
To your digital success,
King Danisan™.
P.S: Don't misquote or misunderstand me.
Leads generation and sales funnel are very crucial to helping your marketing campaign succeed.
But they are as good as useless if your marketing campaign doesn't succeed at the end of the day.
P.P.S: Plans for my birthday offer have officially been set in motion.
And it would be a bummer if I wasn't able to create something that would cater to your needs simply because you didn't give me the information I need.
